The Ferrari 488 Bolt Pattern and Lug Bolts

Every 2016-2021 Ferrari 488 uses a 5x114.3 bolt pattern with a 67.1mm hub bore. The 488 inherited the bolt pattern from the 458 that came before it. Lug count is straightforward. If your 488 has five mounting points around the hub face, it is 5x114.3 / 67.1mm. Ferrari kept 5x114.3 going forward on the F8 Tributo that succeeded the 488.

The 488 mounts wheels with lug bolts rather than lug nuts on studs. A lug bolt is a single fastener that threads directly into the hub, so the wheel is held to the hub by the bolt itself rather than dropped onto pre-installed studs. The thread spec on the 488 is M14x1.5. When you order aftermarket wheels for a 488, you typically also order Ferrari-spec lug bolts in the correct length for the wheel's mounting face thickness. The wrong bolt length is the most common 488 installation mistake we see, so we ship the correct bolts with every Ferrari 488 wheel order.

Why Every Ferrari 488 Runs Staggered Fitment

The 488 is a mid-engine, rear-drive Ferrari with a 3.9-liter twin-turbocharged V8 mounted behind the cabin. The rear tires put down the power and Ferrari specs a wider rear wheel and tire than the front on every 488 variant. From the factory the 488 ran a 20 inch wheel with a 9 inch wide front and a 20x11 rear, paired with 245/35R20 fronts and 305/30R20 rears. The aftermarket window on the 488 runs 20 to 22 inch in diameter with the same staggered ratio carried forward. We do not recommend square setups on a 488 because the chassis is engineered around the staggered geometry and the rear arches are physically wider than the fronts.

The 488 has a larger front brake package than rear. That is normal on a performance car of this caliber. The front axle does the majority of the braking work and Ferrari scales the front rotor and caliper accordingly. The front wheel needs more inner-barrel clearance for the larger front caliper, which is one of the variables we measure on the 488 directly rather than estimating from factory spec sheets. The 488 Pista's track-focused brake package also runs higher heat and more aggressive pad-to-rotor contact than the GTB and Spider, which is part of why we measure each variant on the platform rather than treating "the 488" as a single fitment.
