The Ford Edge is Ford's mid-size unibody crossover, in production for the North American market from 2007 through the 2024 model year. Ford discontinued the Edge in North America after 2024, so the catalog on this page covers a closed historical year range. The Edge ran two generations. The 1st gen (2007-2014, including the Edge Sport from 2011) used the Ford CD3 platform with a 5x114.3 bolt pattern. The 2nd gen (2015-2024, including the Edge ST from 2019) moved onto the Ford CD4 / C2 platform and shifted to a 5x108 bolt pattern. The two patterns do not interchange. The bolt pattern transition between the 1st gen (2007-2014) and the 2nd gen (2015-2024) is the most important spec on this platform. A wheel built for a 1st gen Edge will not bolt onto a 2nd gen Edge and vice versa. The Edge Sport (2011-2014) is grouped with the 1st gen, and the Edge ST (2019-2024) is grouped with the 2nd gen.

The Ford Edge Bolt Pattern

The Edge ran two different bolt patterns over its 17 year production run. The 1st gen Edge (2007-2014) uses 5x114.3 with a 5 lug count, written 5x4.5 in imperial because 114.3mm equals 4.5 inches. The 2nd gen Edge (2015-2024) uses 5x108 with a 5 lug count, written 5x4.25 because 108mm equals roughly 4.25 inches. The transition happened when Ford moved the Edge onto the global CD4 / C2 platform for the 2015 model year. The two patterns do not interchange. A wheel built for a 1st gen Edge will not bolt onto a 2nd gen Edge, and vice versa.

Hub bore also changed across the run. The earliest 1st gen Edge (2007-2010) used a 70.5mm hub bore. From 2011 forward, including the rest of the 1st gen and the entire 2nd gen, the hub bore is 63.4mm. The 2007-2010 cars also use an M12x1.5 lug thread, while 2011 and newer Edge models use M14x1.5. The 1st gen 2007-2010 Edge is the most-mistaken spec on this platform because a wheel that bolts a 2008 Edge may not center properly on a 2012 Edge even though both are 5x114.3. Why the 2015 Edge Platform Shift Changed Wheel Buying

The 2015 redesign is the biggest fitment moment in the Edge's history. The 1st gen Edge sat on the older CD3 platform shared with the Ford Fusion of the same era and used the 5x114.3 bolt pattern that lives on most full-size Ford trucks and SUVs. The 2nd gen Edge moved onto the global CD4 / C2 platform and shifted to Ford's metric 5x108 pattern, which is the same pattern used on the 2nd gen Ford Fusion, the Ford Escape from 2013 forward, the Ford Bronco Sport, and the Ford Maverick. From a customer's standpoint, this means a wheel built for a 2014 Edge Sport will not bolt onto a 2015 Edge of the same body style. The visual difference between the two generations is subtle. The bolt pattern difference is hard.

The Edge Sport (2011-2014) and the Edge ST (2019-2024) are the enthusiast trims and run their own brake packages. The Sport got a larger front brake than the base 1st gen and shipped with 22 inch factory wheels. The ST ran a 2.7 liter twin-turbo EcoBoost V6 and got a larger front brake package than the rest of the 2nd gen. On both performance trims the front brake is larger than the rear, which is normal on this class of crossover. The larger front brake takes more inner clearance behind the wheel face. A wheel that clears a base 2nd gen Edge SEL may not clear an Edge ST. We measure the Sport and ST trims separately from the base trims of the same generation.

How We Confirm Fitment on Ford Edge Wheels

Element Wheels measures fitment on the Edge across both generations. For the Edge that means clearance from the wheel to the fender, gap between the back of the wheel and the suspension, brake caliper height (with extra attention to the Edge Sport and Edge ST larger front brake), hub bore confirmation at 70.5mm or 63.4mm depending on the year, lug stud height, and turning clearance at full lock.
