Ford Excursion Aftermarket Wheel Fitment
The Ford Excursion was Ford's full-size body-on-frame SUV, built from 2000 through the 2005 model year before Ford discontinued the model. The Excursion shares its chassis with the F-250 and F-350 Super Duty trucks of the same era, which is the single most important fitment fact about the platform. Because the Excursion sits on the Super Duty frame, it uses the heavy-duty 8 lug bolt pattern: 8x170 with a 124.9mm hub bore. Element Wheels measures fitment on the Excursion in two distinct windows. The stock-height window covers a 7 to 11 inch width range with positive-to-slightly-negative offsets. The 4 inch and up lifted window opens the door to wider wheels (up to 16 inch wide) and far more negative offsets, because the lift changes the suspension geometry and the inner wheel well clearance. Find your fitment configuration below.
Find Your Ford Excursion Fitment
The Excursion's six-year production run sits on a single chassis, so the year-range split is not about platform changes. The split is about lift. Stock-height Excursions and lifted Excursions live in different fitment universes because the suspension lift changes the offset window. Pick the configuration that matches your truck.
The Ford Excursion Bolt Pattern and Super Duty Chassis
The Excursion runs 8x170 with a 124.9mm hub bore, 14x2.0 thread pitch, 8 lug. That is the same SRW Super Duty bolt pattern Ford put on the 1999-and-newer F-250 and F-350 single-rear-wheel trucks. The reason is simple: the Excursion is the SUV body Ford set on the F-Series Super Duty chassis. This is one of the few same-chassis facts that matters for a buyer, because it tells you that a Super Duty SRW wheel of the right vintage will bolt onto your Excursion, and an Excursion wheel will bolt onto a Super Duty SRW truck of the right vintage.
Two cautions. First, the Excursion is not on the F-150. The F-150 is a 6 lug truck (6x135 from 2004 and newer, 5x135 on the 1997-2003 trucks) on a completely different platform. F-150 wheels do not fit an Excursion. Second, the Excursion does not run a Dually rear, so the 8x200 pattern used on 2011-and-newer F-350 / F-450 Dually trucks does not apply here. The Excursion is single-rear-wheel only, 8x170 only.
Compare against the rest of the Ford lineup at our Ford wheels and rims hub, or jump directly to the F-250/F-350 Super Duty hub for the truck side of the same chassis family.
Why Excursion Fitment Is Lift-Driven
A stock-height Excursion and a lifted Excursion accept different wheels. The lift changes the suspension geometry, the inner liner clearance, and the room between the tire and the upper control arm, which means the wheel offset window the truck accepts shifts when the suspension comes up. We track the stock-height fitment as one row and the 4 inch and up lift fitment as a separate row, both on the same 8x170 / 124.9mm hub bore. The lifted window opens up to wider wheels (up to 16 inch wide in the catalog) and far more negative offsets, because the lift moves the upper control arms and gives the wheel room to sit further outward. The base square fitment stays the same: same width front and rear, with no factory staggered Excursion.
Element Wheels Measured Aftermarket Fitment, Ford Excursion
Publishable factory and wheel specs across the Excursion fitment windows:
- Excursion 2000-2005 Stock Height: 8x170 bolt pattern, 124.9mm hub bore, 14x2.0 thread, 8 lug. F-Series Super Duty chassis. Element aftermarket diameter range: 16 to 26 inch. Aftermarket width range: 7 to 11 inch square. Matched front-rear brake.
- Excursion 2000-2005 with 4 inch and Up Lift: 8x170 bolt pattern, 124.9mm hub bore, 14x2.0 thread, 8 lug. Element aftermarket diameter range: 16 to 26 inch. Aftermarket width range: 9 to 16 inch square. The lifted window opens the door to wider wheels and significantly more negative offset latitude than stock.
For your exact aftermarket offset, three options:
- 1. Use our Year/Make/Model search to see wheels that fit your specific Excursion (each listing shows its own offset).
- 2. Browse the Excursion wheel gallery for real-life builds with size, offset, tire spec, and lift height captions.
- 3. Call or chat with our team for a free fitment consultation. Tell us your lift height and tire size so we can match the right offset window.
Every wheel we recommend is backed by our Fitment Guarantee. If a wheel does not fit, we pick up the wheels and refund 100 percent. No risk to you.
How We Confirm Fitment on Ford Excursion Wheels
Element Wheels measures fitment on the platforms we sell wheels for, including the Excursion across the 2000-2005 run. For the Excursion that means clearance from the wheel to the fender, gap between the back of the wheel and the suspension components, brake caliper clearance, hub bore confirmation at 124.9mm, lug height, tire clearance at full lock, and how much room the wheel and tire have once the SUV is lifted with the tire size the customer plans to run. At our fitment facility in Chandler, Arizona, the Element Wheels team measures directly on the physical platforms we support. We don't pull specs from manufacturer sheets the way most retailers do.
Ford Excursion Wheels and Rims FAQ
What is the bolt pattern on a Ford Excursion?
8x170 with a 124.9mm hub bore, 14x2.0 thread pitch, 8 lug. That is the same SRW Super Duty bolt pattern Ford put on the 1999-and-newer F-250 and F-350 single-rear-wheel trucks, because the Excursion sits on the F-Series Super Duty chassis.
Will a Super Duty wheel fit my Ford Excursion?
Yes, if it is an F-250 or F-350 SRW (single-rear-wheel) Super Duty wheel from 1999 or newer. The Excursion shares its chassis with the F-Series Super Duty SRW trucks of the same era, so the 8x170 / 124.9mm bolt pattern and hub bore are identical. A Dually wheel (8x200) from a 2011-and-newer F-350 / F-450 Dually does NOT fit, and an older 1988-1997 Super Duty wheel (8x165.1, also called 8x6.5) does NOT fit either.
Will an F-150 wheel fit my Excursion?
No. The F-150 is a 6 lug truck (6x135 from 2004 and newer, 5x135 on 1997-2003) on a completely different platform from the Super Duty. F-150 wheels will not fit an Excursion, and Excursion wheels will not fit an F-150. The Excursion is 8 lug only.
Does the Excursion accept a Dually wheel?
No. The Excursion is single-rear-wheel only. The 8x200 Dually pattern Ford uses on the 2011-and-newer F-350 and F-450 Dually trucks does not apply here. Excursion buyers stay on the 8x170 SRW pattern across the entire 2000-2005 production run.
What is the largest wheel I can fit on a Ford Excursion?
Our measured aftermarket diameter window tops at 26 inch on both the stock-height and the 4 inch and up lifted Excursion. Width is where the lift opens things up. Stock Excursions stay in a 7 to 11 inch width range. Lifted Excursions can go as wide as 16 inch with the right offset. Most aftermarket Excursion builds land in the 20 to 24 inch diameter window with 9 to 12 inch widths once the truck is lifted.
How does a lift change the Excursion fitment window?
A lift changes the suspension geometry, the inner liner clearance, and the room between the tire and the upper control arm. That shifts the offset window the truck accepts. A stock Excursion runs a tighter aftermarket width range (7 to 11 inch) and offsets close to stock. A 4 inch and up lifted Excursion can go significantly wider (up to 16 inch) and run much more negative offsets, because the lift has cleared the room the wider wheel needs. Tell us your lift height and tire size when you call and we will match the right window.
Are Excursion wheels staggered?
No. The Excursion runs square (same width front and rear) on every year. The aftermarket sticks to square, which is also what a 4WD Excursion needs to keep the front and rear differentials from binding on uneven tire diameters. There is no factory staggered Excursion.
Do I need hub centric rings on a Ford Excursion?
Hub centric rings only when the aftermarket wheel has a centerbore larger than 124.9mm. If your fitment needs rings, they'll be included with the order.
