The Ford Freestyle Bolt Pattern

Every 2005-2007 Ford Freestyle runs 5x114.3 (also written 5x4.5 in imperial) with a 63.36mm hub bore. The lug count is 5 and the thread pitch is M12x1.5. 5x114.3 is the Ford D3 platform bolt pattern, shared with the 2005-2007 Ford Five Hundred sedan, the 2005-2007 Mercury Montego sedan, and the renamed 2008-2009 Taurus X crossover that replaced the Freestyle on the same chassis. There is one bolt pattern across the entire Freestyle production run because the chassis itself did not change inside those three model years, and the FWD and AWD drivetrains use the same hub spec.

The detail that trips Freestyle buyers cross-shopping wheels. 5x114.3 is a different pattern from 5x115 even though they look similar on paper. 114.3mm equals 4.5 inches exactly. 115mm is roughly 4.53 inches. The two patterns sit 0.7mm apart at the studs, which sounds small but is enough to load the studs unevenly and is not a safe fit. A 5x115 wheel does not bolt onto a Freestyle. Always confirm the wheel listing reads 5x114.3. The 5x4.5 imperial label is the same pattern as 5x114.3, just a different naming convention. The Freestyle Became the Taurus X, Same Chassis

For the 2008 model year, Ford renamed the Freestyle to Taurus X. The chassis underneath did not change. The 2008-2009 Taurus X is the same Ford D3 platform car as the 2005-2007 Freestyle, just rebadged as part of Ford's broader move to revive the Taurus nameplate across the D3 lineup (sedan and crossover) for the 2008 model year. The 2008-2009 Taurus X carries the same 5x114.3 bolt pattern and the same nominal 63.4mm hub bore that the Freestyle ran. A wheel that fits a 2005-2007 Freestyle also fits a 2008-2009 Taurus X, because the underlying car is the same. We list them as separate catalog rows because customers shop them as separate model names, but the fitment work is shared.

The Freestyle runs square (same width front and rear) on every year and every drivetrain. The standard car is front-wheel-drive with an optional all-wheel-drive package across the production run. AWD operation expects equal rolling diameter on every wheel, so the Freestyle was engineered around matched wheel sizes on every corner. There is no factory staggered Freestyle in any year.
