The Ford Ranger is the mid-size pickup nameplate in the Ford lineup. The Ranger sold in North America comes in two completely different platforms across two distinct eras. The old North American Ranger ran from 1991 through 2011, a body-on-frame mid-size truck with 5-lug wheels. Ford then pulled the Ranger out of the North American market for the 2012-2018 model years (the Ranger continued globally during that time on the T6 platform, but it was not sold in the US). Ford brought the Ranger back to North America for the 2019 model year on the T6 platform, a completely different truck with 6-lug wheels. The current T6.2 Ranger (2024 and up) continues on that 6-lug platform, and Ford added the Ranger Raptor (2022 and up) on the same base platform with widened track, larger brakes, and Raptor-specific suspension. The first thing to confirm is the bolt pattern: the 1991-2011 old North American Ranger runs 5x114.3, and the 2019 and up T6 and T6.2 Ranger runs 6x139.7. Lug count is the easiest check. 5 studs means the old Ranger and 5x114.3. 6 studs means the modern Ranger and 6x139.7. The wheels do not cross between the two eras. We also separate stock height, leveled, and modified-crash-bar fitments on the modern Ranger, and the Raptor is tracked separately.

The Ford Ranger Bolt Pattern, Old vs New

The old North American Ranger (1991-2011) ran 5x114.3 with a 70.5mm hub bore. That covers the entire old NA Ranger lifetime in a single Element catalog line: 21 model years of mid-size pickup on a body-on-frame 5-lug platform. The 5x114.3 pattern on the old Ranger is the same numeric pattern that lives on many modern Hyundai, Kia, Honda, Subaru, and Toyota cars, but the wheels do not cross because the old Ranger uses a 70.5mm hub bore that most modern 5x114.3 wheels do not match (Hyundai and Kia run 67.1mm, Honda runs 64.1mm), and the brake clearance, lug seat depth, and offset window on the old Ranger are entirely different from a passenger car.

When Ford brought the Ranger back to North America for the 2019 model year, they brought it back on the T6 platform: a global Ford mid-size truck platform with 6-lug wheels. The bolt pattern is 6x139.7 with a 93.1mm hub bore on every 2019 and up T6 and T6.2 Ranger. 6x139.7 is the modern mid-size truck bolt pattern, also used on the Toyota Tacoma, the Nissan Frontier, the Chevrolet Colorado, the GMC Canyon, and several other mid-size pickups. The wheels bolt across between those mid-size trucks in pattern and hub, but offset window and brake clearance are different on each, so we measure the Ranger separately. The current T6.2 Ranger (2024 and up) continues on 6x139.7 / 93.1mm. Lug count is the easiest way to identify which era your Ranger is from. 5 studs on the wheel means a 1991-2011 old NA Ranger and 5x114.3. 6 studs means a 2019 or newer T6 or T6.2 Ranger and 6x139.7. The wheels do not cross that transition.

Why the Modern Ranger Has Crash Bar, Leveled, and Raptor Fitments

The T6 and T6.2 Ranger have a particular front-end packaging detail that customers run into when going wider on the front wheel: the front crash bar inside the bumper sits at a specific position behind the front wheel. On a stock Ranger, the fitment window is limited to what clears the unmodified crash bar. When the crash bar is modified or trimmed, that opens up the window for a wider wheel and tire combination. Element tracks four separate fitments on the 2019-2023 T6 Ranger and four more on the 2024 and up T6.2 Ranger: stock height with stock crash bar, stock height with modified crash bar, 2-3 inch leveled with stock crash bar, and 2-3 inch leveled with modified crash bar. The leveled fitments allow more tire diameter; the modified crash bar fitments allow more wheel width. Buyers building toward the wider stance need to know which path they are on before ordering.

The Ranger Raptor (2022 and up) is its own truck. Ford widened the track, fitted larger brakes, added Raptor-specific Fox dampers, and increased the suspension travel over the base Ranger. The Ranger Raptor still runs the same 6x139.7 / 93.1mm bolt pattern as the standard T6 Ranger, but the wider track and the larger Raptor brakes mean a wheel sized for a standard Ranger will sit too deep on a Ranger Raptor, and a wheel sized for the Ranger Raptor will poke past the standard Ranger's fender. Element tracks Raptor stock height and Raptor 2-3 inch leveled with trimming as two separate catalog lines.

How We Confirm Fitment on Ford Ranger Wheels

For the Ranger that means clearance from the wheel to the fender, gap between the back of the wheel and the suspension components, brake caliper height (front and rear, with the larger Raptor brakes tracked separately), hub bore confirmation, lug seat depth, the front crash bar position (with stock and modified configurations measured as separate lines), tire clearance at full lock, and how much room the wheel and tire have once the truck is leveled.
