Genesis G80 Aftermarket Wheel Fitment

The Genesis G80 is the Korean mid-size luxury sport sedan that lines up against the BMW 5 Series, the Mercedes E-Class, and the Audi A6. The car began life in 2017 as the renamed Hyundai Genesis Sedan, sold as the "Genesis G80" under Hyundai's then-new Genesis luxury sub-brand. From the 2020 model year forward, Genesis Motors became a fully standalone luxury brand and the G80 became a standalone Genesis flagship. In 2021 the platform jumped from the carryover DH chassis (2017-2020) to the new dedicated RG3 chassis (2021 and up), which brought a redesigned exterior, an updated interior, added the all-electric G80 Electrified variant, AND changed the wheel attachment hardware. The 2017-2020 DH cars use a 5x114.3 bolt pattern, 67.1mm hub bore, M12x1.5 lug NUT (5 lug). The 2021 and up RG3 cars use the same 5x114.3 bolt pattern and 67.1mm hub bore, but moved to M14x1.5 lug BOLTS (5 lug). Pick your generation below for the fitment specs.

Find Your Genesis G80 Generation

Pick your generation to see wheels and rims that fit your specific G80. The 2017-2020 cars sit on the DH chassis carried over from the Hyundai Genesis Sedan, with 2017-2019 still sold under the Hyundai-Genesis era and 2020 the first model year under the standalone Genesis brand. The 2021 and up cars sit on the new RG3 chassis and added the G80 Electrified variant. Bolt pattern (5x114.3) and hub bore (67.1mm) are unchanged across both transitions. The 2021 RG3 platform changed the wheel attachment hardware: DH used M12x1.5 lug nuts on studs, RG3 uses M14x1.5 lug bolts that thread directly into the hub. The wheel itself bolts to the car a different way depending on your generation.

The Genesis G80 Bolt Pattern

Every Genesis G80 from 2017 and up runs a 5x114.3 bolt pattern with a 67.1mm hub bore and a 5 lug count. The imperial nickname for this pattern is 5x4.5 because 114.3mm equals 4.5 inches exactly. The bolt pattern and hub bore did not change across the 2020 rebrand from Hyundai-Genesis to standalone Genesis, and they did not change at the 2021 chassis transition from the DH to the RG3. The thread pitch AND the lug attachment style did change at the 2021 chassis transition. The 2017-2020 G80 DH cars use an M12x1.5 thread with lug NUTS that thread onto wheel studs pressed into the hub. The 2021 and up G80 RG3 cars use an M14x1.5 thread with lug BOLTS that thread directly into the hub (no studs). Bolt-style attachment is the European luxury convention; Hyundai and Genesis adopted it for the dedicated Genesis platform. A 2018 G80 hub and a 2024 G80 hub do NOT share the same hardware, even though they share the bolt circle and the centerbore.

One detail worth flagging because we have seen it confuse buyers. 5x114.3 is NOT the same pattern as 5x115. The two sit roughly 0.7mm apart on the hub circle and a wheel built for one will not properly seat on the other. The G80 is 5x114.3 only. The imperial nickname 5x4.5 refers to 5x114.3 specifically (114.3mm equals 4.5 inches). The 5x115 pattern lives on some American sedans (Chrysler 300, Dodge Charger and Challenger, Cadillac CTS, etc.) and those wheels will not fit your G80. When you are shopping, confirm the wheel listing says 5x114.3 specifically. Compare across the rest of the Genesis lineup at our Genesis wheels and rims hub.

Why the G80 Generation and Trim Change the Fitment Window

The G80 went through two meaningful transitions during its production. The 2020 brand transition (Hyundai-Genesis to standalone Genesis) affected dealer networks and visual branding only, not the wheel hardware. The 2021 chassis transition from the DH to the RG3 was the bigger engineering change: a new platform, a redesigned exterior with the diamond-pattern grille, an updated interior, the addition of the G80 Electrified all-electric variant, AND a change in wheel attachment hardware from M12x1.5 lug nuts to M14x1.5 lug bolts. Suspension geometry also shifted across the chassis update, which is why the offset windows are slightly different between the 2017-2020 DH cars and the 2021 and up RG3 cars.

Safety Callout: Lug Hardware Change in 2021

Genesis switched the G80 from lug nuts (M12x1.5) to lug bolts (M14x1.5) when the car moved to the RG3 chassis in 2021. Lug nuts thread onto studs pressed into the hub; lug bolts thread directly into the hub with the wheel sandwiched in between. The two attachment styles are not interchangeable, and the hardware you use for a 2017-2020 G80 will not work on a 2021 and up G80. If you are replacing factory wheels, the lug hardware that ships with the new wheels (or the OEM hardware you reuse) must match your specific generation. Confirm year before ordering wheels OR lug hardware.

The trim split that matters most on the G80 is the Sport package. The base 2.5T and 3.5T trims ship with a mid-size front brake. The G80 Sport (3.3T on the DH cars, 3.5T Sport on the RG3 cars) ships with a larger front brake package. Front larger than rear on the Sport is the normal configuration on a performance luxury sedan where the front axle handles the bulk of the braking force. The G80 Electrified runs its own braking and regen-aware setup but uses the same 5x114.3 wheel architecture as the gas RG3 G80 (including M14x1.5 lug bolts). Both rear wheel drive and all wheel drive (HTRAC) G80s share the same wheel fitment box; drivetrain is not a variable. The factory configuration is optional staggered across the lineup.

Element Wheels Measured Aftermarket Fitment, Genesis G80

Publishable factory and wheel specs across the G80 generations:

  • 2017-2020 G80 DH (1st gen, Hyundai-Genesis era through 2019, standalone Genesis 2020): 5x114.3 bolt pattern, 67.1mm hub bore, M12x1.5 thread, lug NUT, 5 lug. Element aftermarket diameter range: 19 to 22 inch. Element aftermarket width range: 8 to 9 inch front, 9 to 10.5 inch rear. Optional staggered fitment supported. Larger front brake on the 3.3T Sport.
  • 2021 and up G80 RG3 (2nd gen, standalone Genesis era, includes G80 Electrified): 5x114.3 bolt pattern, 67.1mm hub bore, M14x1.5 thread, lug BOLT, 5 lug. Element aftermarket diameter range: 19 to 22 inch. Element aftermarket width range: 8 to 9 inch front, 9 to 10.5 inch rear. Optional staggered fitment supported. Larger front brake on the 3.5T Sport. Slightly different offset window than the DH because of the new RG3 suspension geometry.

Offset windows are controlled per generation. For your exact aftermarket offset, three options:

  • 1. Use our Year/Make/Model search to see wheels that fit your specific G80 (each listing shows its own offset).
  • 2. Browse the G80 wheel gallery for real-life builds with size, offset, and tire spec captions.
  • 3. Call or chat with our team for a free fitment consultation.

How We Confirm Fitment on Genesis G80 Wheels

Element Wheels measures fitment on the platforms we sell wheels for, including both G80 generations. For the G80 that means clearance from the wheel to the fender, gap between the back of the wheel and the suspension, brake caliper height across the base and Sport trims, hub bore confirmation at 67.1mm, lug attachment hardware (M12x1.5 nut on the 2017-2020 DH cars, M14x1.5 bolt on the 2021 and up RG3 cars), and the chassis-update deltas between the 2017-2020 DH cars and the 2021 and up RG3 cars. At our fitment facility in Chandler, Arizona, the Element Wheels team measures directly on the physical platforms we support. We don't pull specs from manufacturer sheets the way most retailers do.

Every wheel we recommend is backed by our Fitment Guarantee. If a wheel does not fit, we pick up the wheels and refund 100 percent. No risk to you.

Genesis G80 Wheels and Rims FAQ

What is the bolt pattern on a Genesis G80?

Every Genesis G80 from 2017 and up runs 5x114.3 with a 67.1mm hub bore and a 5 lug count. The imperial nickname for this pattern is 5x4.5 because 114.3mm equals 4.5 inches. The bolt pattern and hub bore do not change between the 2017-2020 DH and the 2021 and up RG3 generations. Thread pitch DOES split by generation: 2017-2020 DH cars use M12x1.5 with lug nuts on studs; 2021 and up RG3 cars use M14x1.5 with lug bolts that thread directly into the hub. Confirm year before ordering lug hardware.

Is the Genesis G80 the same car as the Hyundai Genesis Sedan?

It is the same nameplate continuing under a different brand. The 2009-2016 Hyundai Genesis Sedan was renamed Genesis G80 for 2017 when Hyundai launched its Genesis luxury sub-brand. The 2017-2020 G80 carried over the DH chassis from the second generation Hyundai Genesis Sedan, with 2017-2019 still in the Hyundai-Genesis era and 2020 the first model year under standalone Genesis. The 2021 and up G80 moved to the new RG3 chassis. If your sedan is a 2016 or earlier, you have a Hyundai Genesis Sedan; see the Hyundai Genesis Sedan wheels hub.

Did the bolt pattern or lug hardware change when Genesis became its own brand in 2020 or with the 2021 chassis update?

The bolt pattern did NOT change, but the lug hardware DID change at the 2021 chassis update. Both DH (2017-2020) and RG3 (2021 and up) run 5x114.3 with a 67.1mm hub bore and a 5 lug count. The 2020 brand transition (Hyundai-Genesis to standalone Genesis) affected the dealer network and visual branding, not the wheel hub spec. The 2021 chassis update brought a new platform with shifted suspension geometry AND switched the wheel attachment from M12x1.5 lug NUTS (on studs) to M14x1.5 lug BOLTS (threaded directly into the hub). The bolt circle and the centerbore did not change, but the hardware that holds the wheel on the car did.

Is 5x114.3 the same as 5x115 on a Genesis G80?

No. 5x114.3 and 5x115 are different bolt patterns and the wheels do not interchange. They look close on paper but the studs sit about 0.7mm apart, which is enough to stress the lugs and the hub if you force the wrong wheel onto the car. The G80 is 5x114.3 only. The imperial nickname 5x4.5 refers to 5x114.3 specifically (114.3mm equals 4.5 inches). The 5x115 pattern lives on some American sedans like the Chrysler 300 and Dodge Charger and those wheels will not fit your G80.

Does the G80 Sport trim change the wheel I can buy?

The G80 Sport (3.3T on the DH cars, 3.5T Sport on the RG3 cars) ships with a larger front brake package than the base trims. Front larger than rear on the Sport is the normal configuration for a performance luxury sedan. Bolt pattern, hub bore, and lug spec are identical across the trims. The variable is brake clearance, which sets the 19 inch floor for the Sport. Our Year/Make/Model search returns only wheels fit-tested against the brake package on your specific G80.

Does the G80 Electrified use different wheels than the gas G80?

The G80 Electrified shares the same 5x114.3 bolt pattern and 67.1mm hub bore as the gas G80. The car carries more battery weight than the gas trims, so factory tire load specs run higher and OEM ships a more aerodynamic factory wheel design for range. In the aftermarket, the bolt-on architecture is identical, and any wheel that fits an RG3-era gas G80 will bolt onto the Electrified. We measure the Electrified separately for load-spec recommendations on the OEM-replacement side; for aftermarket designs, the wheel fitment box is the same as the gas RG3 G80.

What is the largest wheel I can fit on a Genesis G80?

Our measured aftermarket window tops at 22 inch on every G80 generation. Most aftermarket G80 buyers land at 20 or 21 inch with a comfort-tuned tire spec for the ride quality a luxury sedan needs. 22 inch is the upper limit and requires the right tire profile to keep the lip safe from curb damage. 19 inch is the floor on a G80; below that the wheel face sits too small for the proportions of the sedan, and the Sport trim front caliper does not clear smaller diameters.

Do I need hub centric rings on a Genesis G80?

Hub centric rings only when the aftermarket wheel has a centerbore larger than 67.1mm. If your fitment needs rings, they'll be included with the order.
