The Hyundai Tiburon Bolt Pattern

The Tiburon has one bolt pattern transition in its US lifespan: the 4-lug to 5-lug move that happened with the 2003 model year and the launch of the GK chassis 2nd gen. 1997-2002 Tiburons use 4x114.3 with a 67.1mm hub bore, M12x1.5 thread, and 4 lugs. 2003-2008 Tiburons use 5x114.3 with the same 67.1mm hub bore and M12x1.5 thread, but with 5 lugs. The hub bore and thread pitch stayed constant across the transition, but the lug count and pattern changed, so wheels do not cross the 2002 to 2003 boundary.

On the 2nd gen Tiburon, the imperial nickname for 5x114.3 is 5x4.5, since 114.3mm equals exactly 4.5 inches. It is one of the most common 5-lug patterns in the modern automotive market, which makes the 2nd gen Tiburon one of the easier classic 2000s coupes to find aftermarket wheels for.

One detail that catches buyers: 5x114.3 is NOT the same as 5x115 used on some American sedans (the Chrysler 300, the Dodge Charger LX, the Buick Lucerne). The two patterns sit only 0.7mm apart but they do not bolt across. The lug studs will not line up at that spacing. The 5x4.5 nickname refers specifically to 5x114.3 (114.3mm equals 4.5 inches). Wheels marketed as "5x4.5" without a metric callout are 5x114.3 wheels, which is the correct 2nd gen Tiburon pattern. Stick to 5x114.3 / 5x4.5 specifically on a 2003-2008 Tiburon.

The 1st gen Tiburon's 4x114.3 pattern is the same 4-lug pattern used on the contemporary 1995-2005 Hyundai Sonata. It is less common in the modern aftermarket than the 5x114.3 pattern, so wheel selection for the 1st gen is narrower. Tiburon Generations and the GT V6

The 1st gen Tiburon (RD chassis, 1997-2002) was the original sport coupe iteration in North America, with a 4-cylinder engine and the 4-lug 4x114.3 bolt pattern. The 2nd gen Tiburon (GK chassis, 2003-2008) was a full redesign with a more aggressive body, the optional 2.7L V6 in the Tiburon GT V6, and the 5-lug 5x114.3 pattern. The Tiburon GT V6 is the enthusiast pick from the 2nd gen lineup, paired with a 6-speed manual on later years. The GT V6 uses the same 5x114.3 bolt pattern, 67.1mm hub bore, and M12x1.5 thread as the rest of the 2nd gen lineup. In our catalog the GT V6 fits within the same aftermarket window as the standard 2003-2008 Tiburon. Bolt pattern and hub bore are uniform across the GK trim lineup, so the wheel that fits a base 2nd gen Tiburon will bolt to a GT V6.

The Tiburon is a square (non-staggered) car across both generations, including the GT V6. The same wheel spec works front and rear. There is no factory stagger on the Tiburon and our aftermarket window respects that. The Tiburon is also a front wheel drive coupe throughout its history. The Tiburon was discontinued after 2008 in North America, replaced in the Hyundai lineup by the Genesis Coupe in 2010 (a rear wheel drive coupe on a different platform with a different bolt pattern).
