The G20 Bolt Pattern and the Nissan Primera Connection

Every Infiniti G20 we catalog runs the 4x114.3 bolt pattern with a 66.1mm factory hub bore and 12x1.25 lug thread. The pattern is consistent across both the P10 and the P11. 4x114.3 is the early-90s Nissan and Infiniti 4-lug standard, also used under the A31 and A32 Maxima of the same era and the Nissan 240SX S13 and S14. A wheel built for an A32 Maxima will bolt onto a G20 at the lug-hole level, though track width and fender clearance differ between the two cars, so we measure each platform on its own chassis.

A cross-pattern caution that applies to the 4-lug 4x114.3 pattern: 4x114.3 is the only pattern that gets the imperial nickname 4x4.5 (because 114.3mm equals 4.5 inches exactly). It is NOT the same as 4x100 (used on smaller Honda, Toyota, and Mazda imports of the same era), and it is NOT the same as the 5-lug 5x114.3 used on the Infiniti G35 sedan that replaced the G20 in 2003. The lug count, not just the diameter, has to match. A 5x114.3 wheel will not bolt onto a G20 4-lug hub no matter how close the dimensions look on paper.

The G20 is the US-market rebadge of the Nissan Primera, Nissan's front-drive compact luxury sedan sold in Europe, Japan, and other international markets. The P10 first generation Primera launched in 1990 internationally and arrived in the US as the 1991 G20. After a 1997 and 1998 break in US sales, the P11 second generation came back for the 1999-2002 US G20. Infiniti discontinued the G20 after the 2002 model year and replaced the entry-level slot with the G35 sedan on the FM platform for the 2003 model year, which moved Infiniti's entry-level sedan from a front-drive 4-cylinder car to a rear-drive V6 sport sedan and changed the bolt pattern to 5x114.3 in the process. Why the G20 Runs a Smaller Window Than Its Rear-Drive Replacements

The G20 is front wheel drive across both generations. That is the single most important fact about its fitment window. A FWD compact luxury sedan with a 4-lug hub and a 66.1mm bore does not have the fender clearance, the brake clearance, or the suspension geometry to take the kind of large-diameter and wide-width aftermarket setup the rear-drive Infinitis of the same era and the later G35 sedan handle. The Element measured aftermarket diameter window on the G20 tops at 20 inch, with most builds landing in the 17 to 18 inch range where the car's factory ride compromise stays intact. Aftermarket width tops at 7.5 inch front and rear. Stagger is not in the G20 catalog because the G20 is square-only as a front-drive car.

Lowering, plus-sizing past 18 inch, or aggressive low-offset setups on a G20 all need the right wheel and tire profile to keep the car drivable. The G20 was designed around a soft compact luxury ride, so any setup that pushes the tire sidewall too thin or the offset too low past factory takes that ride quality the wrong direction. The conservative aftermarket move on a G20 is one step up from factory diameter with a tire profile that preserves rolling diameter and a moderate offset that keeps the wheel inside the fender.
