Mercedes-Benz CLA-Class Aftermarket Wheel Fitment
The Mercedes-Benz CLA-Class is the compact four door coupe at the entry point of the Mercedes sedan and coupe lineup. It rides on the Mercedes MFA front wheel drive platform with optional 4MATIC all wheel drive, shared with the A-Class, GLA, and GLB across the same family of platforms. Element Wheels measures the CLA across two generations: the C117 (2014-2019, MFA1 platform, including the CLA 250 and the AMG CLA 35 / 45) and the current C118 (2020 and up, MFA2 platform, CLA 250 in our catalog through 2026, with AMG CLA 35 and CLA 45 variants on the same chassis). Bolt pattern is 5x112 with a 66.56mm hub bore on every CLA variant, every generation. Lug fastener is M14x1.5, lug bolt style (Mercedes uses a bolt that threads into the hub, not a stud with a separate lug nut). The CLA is a square fitment platform across every trim. Same wheel and tire size front and rear, no factory stagger. What changes inside the family is the brake package on the AMG trims and the minimum diameter at the AMG 35 and AMG 45. Pick your generation and trim below for the fitment specs.
Find Your Mercedes-Benz CLA-Class Generation
Pick your chassis to see wheels and rims that fit your specific CLA. Bolt pattern is 5x112 / 66.56mm CB on every variant. What changes is the brake package on the AMG CLA 35 and AMG CLA 45 (larger than the base CLA 250) and the chassis generation between the C117 and the current C118.
The Mercedes-Benz CLA-Class Bolt Pattern
Every Mercedes-Benz CLA in our catalog uses 5x112 with a 66.56mm hub bore. That covers the C117 (2014-2019, including CLA 250 and AMG CLA 35 / 45) and the current C118 (2020 and up, CLA 250 in our catalog with AMG CLA 35 and CLA 45 variants on the same chassis). Mercedes did not change the bolt math when they replaced the C117 with the C118 in 2020. Lug fastener is M14x1.5, lug bolt style.
The CLA rides on the Mercedes MFA front wheel drive platform with optional 4MATIC all wheel drive. The MFA family includes the A-Class, GLA, GLB, and CLA, and all four nameplates share the same 5x112 / 66.56mm bolt math, the same M14x1.5 lug thread, and the same general chassis lineage. Wheels will bolt across all four MFA nameplates in stud pattern and centering, but body geometry differs significantly between them. The A-Class and CLA are low sedans / four door coupes. The GLA is a subcompact SUV. The GLB is a compact three row SUV. A wheel measured for a CLA 45 will not automatically clear a GLA 45 or a GLB 35 of the same year. We track each MFA nameplate as its own platform.
The 5x112 / 66.56mm pattern is also the universal modern Mercedes-Benz spec, shared with the C-Class, E-Class, S-Class, GLC, GLE, and GLS. 5x112 is NOT the same as 5x114.3 used on most Japanese cars. The two patterns sit roughly 2mm apart and are not interchangeable. Compare across the rest of the Mercedes-Benz lineup at our Mercedes-Benz wheels and rims hub, or check the sibling fitments at /wheels/mercedes-benz/gla-class and /wheels/mercedes-benz/glb-class.
Why CLA Trim And Brake Package Determine Wheel Fit
The CLA ships in three trim tiers across both generations. The CLA 250 (base) runs the standard CLA brake package and accepts a 17 inch minimum aftermarket diameter. The AMG CLA 35 (introduced for 2020 on the C118 in the U.S. market, with a similar Edition variant on the late C117) sits in the middle and runs a larger brake than the base. The AMG CLA 45 sits at the top and runs the largest brake on the CLA platform, with a significantly tighter caliper clearance window. The AMG variants require an 18 inch minimum aftermarket diameter. The front brake on the AMG CLA 35 and AMG CLA 45 is significantly larger than the rear brake, which is standard on every high output Mercedes-AMG performance variant. The CLA is square across every variant, every generation. Same wheel and tire size front and rear, no factory stagger. The square layout matches the MFA front wheel drive geometry and the optional 4MATIC all wheel drive driveline.
Element Wheels Measured Aftermarket Fitment, Mercedes-Benz CLA-Class
Publishable factory and wheel specs across the CLA generations and trims:
- C117 CLA 250 (2014-2019): 5x112 bolt pattern, 66.56mm hub bore, M14x1.5 lug bolts. Element aftermarket diameter range: 17-20 inch. Aftermarket width range: 7.5-8 inch (square). Standard CLA brake package.
- C117 CLA 35/45 AMG (2014-2019): 5x112, 66.56mm CB, M14x1.5 lug bolts. Aftermarket diameter range: 18-20 inch. Aftermarket width range: 7.5-9 inch (square). Largest brake on the C117 CLA platform. Front brake significantly larger than rear.
- C118 CLA 250 (2020 and up): 5x112, 66.56mm CB, M14x1.5 lug bolts. Aftermarket diameter range: 17-20 inch. Aftermarket width range: 7.5-8.5 inch (square). New C118 chassis on MFA2, same bolt math as C117.
Offset windows are tightly controlled by the CLA AMG brake clearance and the front wheel drive geometry. For your exact aftermarket offset, three options:
- 1. Use our Year/Make/Model search to see wheels that fit your specific CLA generation and trim (each listing shows its own offset).
- 2. Browse the CLA-Class wheel gallery for real-life builds with size, offset, and tire spec captions.
- 3. Call or chat with our team for a free fitment consultation.
Every wheel we recommend is backed by our Fitment Guarantee. If a wheel does not fit, we pick up the wheels and refund 100 percent. No risk to you.
How We Confirm Fitment on Mercedes-Benz CLA-Class Wheels
Element Wheels measures fitment on the platforms we sell wheels for, including both CLA generations from the 2014 C117 forward. For the CLA that means clearance from the wheel to the fender on a low compact four door coupe body, gap between the back of the wheel and the front suspension struts on the MFA front wheel drive platform, brake caliper height across the base CLA 250 and the AMG CLA 35 / CLA 45 packages, hub bore confirmation on the 66.56mm Mercedes hub, lug bolt seat depth for the M14x1.5 lug bolt, and the front wheel drive turning geometry that constrains the steer angle clearance. At our fitment facility in Chandler, Arizona, the Element Wheels team measures directly on the physical platforms we support. We don't pull specs from manufacturer sheets the way most retailers do.
Mercedes-Benz CLA-Class Wheels and Rims FAQ
What is the bolt pattern on a Mercedes-Benz CLA?
Every Mercedes-Benz CLA uses 5x112 with a 66.56mm hub bore. That covers both generations (C117 from 2014-2019 and C118 from 2020 and up) and every trim, including CLA 250, AMG CLA 35, and AMG CLA 45. Lug fastener is M14x1.5, lug bolt style. 5x112 is the Mercedes-Benz family standard pattern. It is NOT the same as 5x114.3 used on most Japanese cars. The two patterns sit roughly 2mm apart and are not interchangeable.
C117 vs C118: what changes for wheels?
Bolt pattern and hub bore stay the same (5x112 / 66.56mm) across both generations. The C117 (2014-2019, MFA1 platform) and the C118 (2020 and up, MFA2 platform) carry different exterior dimensions (the C118 is longer and wider than the C117), different suspension geometry, and a different brake package. The C118 also brought the AMG CLA 35 nameplate to the U.S. market full time. The base CLA 250 aftermarket diameter window is the same on both generations (17-20 inch), but the offset window differs because of the body geometry change. Wheels bolt across in stud pattern but the measured fitment differs by generation.
Will A-Class, GLA, or GLB wheels fit my CLA?
The CLA, A-Class, GLA, and GLB all ride on the same Mercedes MFA family of platforms and all use 5x112 / 66.56mm with M14x1.5 lug bolts. Wheels will bolt onto each hub in pattern and hub centering. But the four nameplates have different ride heights, fender geometries, and brake packages. The CLA and A-Class are low sedans / four door coupes. The GLA and GLB are taller crossover bodies. A wheel measured for a GLA 45 will not automatically clear a CLA 45 of the same year. We track each MFA nameplate as its own platform with its own measured fitment library.
Do AMG CLA 35 and AMG CLA 45 need different wheels than the base CLA 250?
Same bolt pattern (5x112 / 66.56mm) as the base CLA 250, but the AMG trims ship with larger brake packages and a tighter offset window. The CLA 45 AMG carries the largest brake on the CLA platform, with the front brake significantly larger than the rear. The AMG variants require an 18 inch minimum aftermarket diameter (vs 17 inch on the CLA 250). A wheel that clears a base CLA 250 front caliper may not clear a CLA 45 front caliper of the same chassis. We track the AMG and base CLA on separate catalog rows. Use the AMG fitment box, not the base CLA row, when shopping for an AMG CLA 35 or AMG CLA 45.
Is the CLA a square or staggered fitment?
Square. Same wheel and tire size front and rear on every CLA variant, in every generation, including the AMG CLA 35 and AMG CLA 45. The CLA rides on the Mercedes MFA front wheel drive platform with optional 4MATIC, and Mercedes-AMG does not run staggered wheels from the factory on this platform. The square layout matches the front wheel drive geometry and the optional all wheel drive driveline.
What is the largest wheel I can fit on a Mercedes-Benz CLA?
Our measured aftermarket window tops at 20 inch on every CLA variant, including the C117 CLA 250, C117 CLA 35 / 45 AMG, and C118 CLA 250. 19 and 20 inch are popular AMG choices for visual stance. 18 inch is the minimum on the AMG trims. 17 inch is the minimum on the base CLA 250 and is the most popular size for tire selection and ride quality. Above 20 inch typically requires fender clearance work and is not a build we measure for on a body this size.
Do I need hub centric rings on a Mercedes-Benz CLA?
Hub centric rings only when the aftermarket wheel has a centerbore larger than 66.56mm. If your fitment needs rings, they'll be included with the order.
How do I find the right wheels for my specific Mercedes-Benz CLA?
Confirm your generation (C117 from 2014-2019 or C118 from 2020 and up) and your trim (CLA 250, AMG CLA 35, or AMG CLA 45). Bolt pattern is 5x112 / 66.56mm on every variant. Use our Year/Make/Model search to see wheels that fit your specific CLA and browse the wheel gallery for real-life builds. If you have an AMG trim (35 or 45), contact our team for a free fitment consultation before ordering since the AMG brake clearance is significantly tighter than the base CLA 250. Every wheel we recommend is backed by the Fitment Guarantee.
