Mercedes-Benz GLE-Class Aftermarket Wheel Fitment
The Mercedes-Benz GLE-Class is the mid-size luxury SUV, formerly known as the M-Class (ML) before Mercedes renamed the lineup in 2016. The rename was nomenclature only. The W166 chassis carried across the change, so a 2015 ML 350 and a 2016 GLE 350 share the same underlying chassis spec. Element Wheels measures the GLE-Class across three modern generations: ML Class era (W163 / W164 / W166, 1998-2015), GLE SUV W166 (2016-2019), and the current V167 GLE SUV (2020 and up). The GLE Coupe is a separate body style on its own chassis (C292 from 2016-2019, C167 from 2020 and up). Bolt pattern stays 5x112 with a 66.56mm hub bore across the entire modern GLE-Class lineup including AMG variants. What changes is the brake package, the lug bolt thread on the current V167 trims, and the SUV-vs-Coupe body style. Pick your generation and body style below.
Find Your Mercedes-Benz GLE-Class Generation
Pick your chassis and body style to see wheels and rims that fit your specific GLE-Class. Bolt pattern is 5x112 / 66.56mm CB across every modern generation. SUV and Coupe are different body styles with their own measured fitment windows. AMG variants (GLE 43, 53, 63, 63 S, and the legacy ML 63) ship with larger brake packages and tighter offset windows than the base GLE 300, 350, 450, or 550 of the same chassis.
The Mercedes-Benz GLE-Class Bolt Pattern
Every modern Mercedes-Benz ML Class and GLE-Class uses 5x112 with a 66.56mm hub bore. That covers the W163 (1998-2005), W164 (2006-2011), W166 ML Class (2012-2015), W166 GLE SUV (2016-2019), V167 GLE SUV (2020 and up), C292 GLE Coupe (2016-2019), and C167 GLE Coupe (2020 and up). The 2016 ML-to-GLE rename did not change the chassis or the bolt pattern. The W166 chassis carried directly from ML Class into GLE SUV form, and the C-series Coupe chassis (C292 then C167) inherited the same 5x112 / 66.56mm spec from launch. AMG variants share the same bolt math as the base GLE of the same chassis.
The 5x112 / 66.56mm bolt pattern is the universal modern Mercedes-Benz pattern, shared with the C-Class, E-Class, S-Class, GLC, GLS, and CLS. A wheel built for a current C-Class will bolt onto a current GLE in pattern and hub centering, but the GLE SUV body style carries different fender clearance, ride height, and tire diameter window than the sedan, so the wheel will sit differently. The lug bolt thread also transitioned on the current V167. Earlier ML and GLE generations ran M14x1.5. The V167 GLE 350 / 450 / 580 and the V167-based AMG GLE 53 / 63 moved to M15x1.25, with one or two transition trims still on M14x1.5. Confirm the lug spec before reusing factory lugs across generations. Compare against the rest of the Mercedes-Benz SUV lineup at our Mercedes-Benz wheels and rims hub.
Why GLE Trim, Body Style, And Brake Package Determine Wheel Fit
The GLE-Class is sold in two body styles (SUV and Coupe) and across a wide spread of trims (300, 350, 400, 450, 550, 580 on the base side, and 43, 53, 63, 63 S on the AMG side, plus the legacy ML 63). Each combination changes the fitment window. The SUV uses a taller, broader body with more vertical fender clearance and a typical aftermarket diameter window of 20-24 inch on the modern V167. The Coupe (C292 and C167) is the lower-roof, more aggressively-styled body with a tighter rear fender clearance and a typical aftermarket window of 21-23 inch with mandatory factory staggered fitment. The Coupe ships staggered as factory geometry. The SUV ships square on the base trims and staggered on the AMG SUV.
Brake packages stack on top of body style. Base GLE 300 / 350 / 400 / 450 / 550 / 580 ship with a smaller brake package. GLE 43 AMG runs a larger package than the base. GLE 53 AMG steps up again, and the GLE 63 / 63 S top the lineup with the most aggressive brake setup. The front brake is larger than the rear across every AMG GLE variant, which is standard on a performance SUV at this output level. The practical implication: a wheel that clears a base GLE 350 SUV front caliper may not clear a GLE 63 SUV front caliper of the same chassis. We measure each combination as its own catalog row.

Offset windows are tightly controlled by the GLE brake clearance, especially on AMG 63 and 63 S variants. For your exact aftermarket offset, three options:
- 1. Use our Year/Make/Model search to see wheels that fit your specific GLE-Class (each listing shows its own offset).
- 2. Browse the GLE-Class wheel gallery for real-life builds with size, offset, and tire spec captions.
- 3. Call or chat with our team for a free fitment consultation.
Every wheel we recommend is backed by our Fitment Guarantee. If a wheel does not fit, we pick up the wheels and refund 100 percent. No risk to you.
How We Confirm Fitment on Mercedes-Benz GLE-Class Wheels
Element Wheels measures fitment on the platforms we sell wheels for, including every ML Class and GLE-Class generation back to the W163. For the GLE-Class that means clearance from the wheel to the fender (SUV and Coupe body styles are measured separately), gap between the back of the wheel and the suspension, brake caliper height across the base, AMG 43, AMG 53, and AMG 63 / 63 S variants, hub bore confirmation (66.56mm uniform across the lineup), lug bolt seat depth, and the M14x1.5 to M15x1.25 lug thread transition on the current V167. At our fitment facility in Chandler, Arizona, the Element Wheels team measures directly on the physical platforms we support. We don't pull specs from manufacturer sheets the way most retailers do.
Mercedes-Benz GLE-Class Wheels and Rims FAQ
What is the bolt pattern on a Mercedes-Benz GLE-Class?
Every modern ML Class and GLE-Class uses 5x112 with a 66.56mm hub bore. That covers the W163 (1998-2005), W164 (2006-2011), W166 ML / GLE (2012-2019), V167 GLE SUV (2020 and up), C292 GLE Coupe (2016-2019), and C167 GLE Coupe (2020 and up), including all AMG variants. The 2016 rename from M-Class to GLE did not change the chassis or the bolt pattern.
Is the GLE the same as the M-Class?
The GLE replaced the M-Class name in 2016 with no chassis change. The 2015 ML 350 (W166) and the 2016 GLE 350 (still W166) are the same car under different badging. Mercedes-Benz renamed the SUV lineup to align the naming with the GL prefix (GLA, GLC, GLE, GLS) and the engine letter suffix. Wheels that fit a W166 ML Class fit a W166 GLE SUV.
Is the GLE Coupe the same as the GLE SUV for wheel fitment?
Same bolt pattern (5x112 / 66.56mm) but different body style with its own fitment window. The GLE Coupe (C292 from 2016-2019, C167 from 2020 and up) is the lower-roof, more aggressively-styled body that ships factory staggered with a wider rear wheel and tire than front. The GLE SUV ships square on the base trims and staggered on the V167-era AMG variants. The Coupe and SUV are measured separately in our catalog. A wheel that fits a GLE SUV may not fit a GLE Coupe of the same chassis era because the rear fender clearance and factory staggered geometry are different.
Do AMG GLE 53, GLE 63, or GLE 63 S need different wheels?
Same bolt pattern as the base GLE (5x112 / 66.56mm), but the AMG trims ship with larger brake packages and tighter offset windows. The GLE 43 runs a brake one tier above the base. The GLE 53 steps up again. The GLE 63 and 63 S top the lineup with the most aggressive brake setup. The front brake is larger than the rear across every AMG GLE, which is standard on a performance SUV at this caliber. A wheel that clears a base GLE 350 SUV front caliper may not clear a GLE 63 SUV front caliper of the same chassis. We measure each combination as its own catalog row. Use the AMG-specific fitment box, not the base GLE row, when shopping for an AMG GLE.
What changed on the V167 GLE lug bolt thread?
Mercedes-Benz transitioned the GLE lug bolt thread on the current V167 platform. Earlier ML and GLE generations ran M14x1.5. The current V167 GLE 350 / 450 / 580 SUV and the V167-based AMG GLE 53 / 63 use M15x1.25. The bolt pattern (5x112) and hub bore (66.56mm) did not change. Reusing factory lug bolts across the older and newer cars requires verifying thread spec for your exact trim and year. New wheels we ship include compatible lugs for the trim.
What is the largest wheel I can fit on a Mercedes-Benz GLE-Class?
It depends on the chassis and body style. The W163 ML tops at 22 inch. The W164 and W166 ML / GLE also top at 22 inch. The W166 GLE SUV (2016-2019) opens up to 24 inch. The C292 GLE Coupe and C292 GLE 43 Coupe take 24 inch. The current V167 GLE SUV and C167 GLE Coupe top at 23 inch in our measured window. 22 inch is the most common aftermarket choice across the lineup, with 23 inch as the AMG 63 / 63 S preference for visual stance.
Do I need hub centric rings on a Mercedes-Benz GLE-Class?
Hub centric rings only when the aftermarket wheel has a centerbore larger than 66.56mm. If your fitment needs rings, they'll be included with the order.
How do I find the right wheels for my specific Mercedes-Benz GLE?
Confirm your chassis (W163, W164, W166 ML, W166 GLE SUV, V167 GLE SUV, C292 GLE Coupe, or C167 GLE Coupe), your body style (SUV or Coupe), and your trim (base 300/350/400/450/550/580 or AMG 43/53/63/63 S). The bolt pattern is 5x112 / 66.56mm on every modern GLE. Use our Year/Make/Model search to see wheels that fit your specific GLE and browse the wheel gallery for real-life builds. If you have a GLE 63, GLE 63 S, or any AMG Coupe variant, contact our team for a free fitment consultation before ordering. Every wheel we recommend is backed by the Fitment Guarantee.
