Nissan GT-R Aftermarket Wheel Fitment

The Nissan GT-R is the R35 chassis, the only GT-R Nissan sold in the United States. The R35 ran from the 2009 model year through the 2025 model year, with Nissan ending R35 production after seventeen years. Element Wheels measures fitment on the R35 across every trim Nissan offered, including Premium, Black Edition, Track Edition, and NISMO. The bolt pattern is 5x114.3 (also called 5x4.5 imperial) with a 66.1mm hub bore. Every R35 ships with the factory 6-piston front Brembo brake and the must-staggered fitment that defines the platform, with a noticeably wider rear wheel and tire than the front. The NISMO carries a larger Brembo package on top of the same bolt math. This is one of the more uncompromising platforms in our catalog from a brake-clearance standpoint, and the right wheel for an R35 is one we have measured behind that specific Brembo caliper.

Note on Skyline GT-R predecessors: the R32 (1989-1994), R33 (1995-1998), and R34 (1999-2002) Skyline GT-R were sold in Japan only and never offered through US Nissan dealers. The Nissan GT-R Bolt Pattern

Every R35 Nissan GT-R from 2009 through 2025 uses 5x114.3, also called 5x4.5 imperial (114.3mm = 4.5 inches exactly), with a 66.1mm factory hub bore. The pattern is consistent across Premium, Black Edition, Track Edition, and NISMO. A wheel built for one R35 trim will bolt onto another R35 trim at the lug-hole level. What changes between trims is brake clearance behind the front wheel face and the factory tire spec, not the bolt math.

A cross-pattern caution that applies to every 5x114.3 platform: 5x114.3 is NOT the same as the 5x115 pattern used on Chrysler 300, Dodge Charger LX, and similar American sedans. The two patterns sit roughly 0.7mm apart and are not interchangeable, even though the difference sounds tiny. The imperial nickname 5x4.5 refers only to 5x114.3 (because 114.3mm = 4.5 inches exactly). Calling 5x115 "5x4.5" is wrong and forcing a 5x115 wheel onto a 5x114.3 hub puts the stud loading off-center, which is a safety issue on a 600-plus horsepower car. Why the GT-R Ships Must-Staggered with a Brembo Front

The R35 is a twin-turbo all wheel drive car with the engine in front and a transaxle in back, designed for repeated high speed runs without brake fade. Nissan specs a 6-piston Brembo front caliper across the entire R35 production run, paired with a 4-piston Brembo rear. That is normal on a performance car of this caliber. The front axle does the majority of the braking work, and Nissan scales the front rotor and caliper accordingly. The front wheel needs more inner-barrel clearance for the larger front Brembo, which is exactly why our measured aftermarket diameter window starts at 20 inch. An 18 or 19 inch wheel cannot clear the front Brembo caliper on any factory R35 trim.

The NISMO trim takes that further with an even larger Brembo package on the same 5x114.3 bolt pattern. The NISMO front caliper is physically taller and deeper than the standard R35 Brembo, and the tire spec also runs wider on NISMO. The basic bolt math still works on a NISMO, but the inner barrel of any wheel intended for a NISMO needs additional clearance behind the spoke face. We measure NISMO separately on the car for that reason.

The R35 ships must-staggered across every trim. The factory fitment runs a wider rear wheel than front, and the chassis is engineered around the staggered geometry. We do not recommend square setups on an R35. Running the same wheel and tire size front and rear pulls the rear in tighter than the body was designed for and unloads the rear axle's mechanical advantage on power delivery. The factory must-staggered window is part of why the GT-R puts power down the way it does.
