Polaris Slingshot Aftermarket Wheel Fitment

The Polaris Slingshot is a three-wheeled autocycle: two front wheels and a single wide rear wheel powering the back. That layout is uncommon, and it changes the wheel buying process. A Slingshot wheel "set" is technically a front pair plus one rear wheel, not the four-wheel sets you would buy for a car or truck. Element Wheels measures the Slingshot from 2014 and up. All three wheels share the same 5x114.3 (5x4.5) bolt pattern with a 66.1mm hub bore. What differs is width: the two front wheels run 7.5 to 9 inch wide, and the single rear wheel runs 9 to 12 inch wide to handle the drive load. A 12 inch wide rear wheel is possible but requires a +45 offset minimum to clear the rear shock; we flag this before shipping. Pick your year below and the fitment specs follow.

Find Your Polaris Slingshot Year

Pick your year to see wheels and rims that fit your specific Slingshot. The bolt pattern (5x114.3 / 66.1mm) and the must-staggered fitment requirement (narrower fronts, wider single rear) have stayed consistent across the Slingshot production run.

The Polaris Slingshot Bolt Pattern

Every Polaris Slingshot uses 5x114.3 (also written 5x4.5) with a 66.1mm hub bore on all three wheels. The 5x114.3 pattern matches a wide range of Japanese and American passenger cars, which gives the Slingshot a deeper aftermarket wheel selection than it would have on a less common pattern. Worth knowing: the 5x114.3 nickname "5x4.5" comes from the imperial measurement (114.3mm equals 4.5 inches). This is NOT the same as 5x115, which is a separate bolt pattern used on some GM and Mopar cars. The two are roughly 0.7mm apart and are not interchangeable; treating them as the same pattern causes stud stress and is unsafe.

Centerbore on the Slingshot is 66.1mm at the hub. Aftermarket Slingshot wheels are typically bored to 66.1mm or come with the correct ring. The wheel face design has more freedom than on a car because the Slingshot front wheels do not need to clear a large brake caliper the way a performance car does, and the single rear wheel is on a chain-drive setup that gives extra clearance on the inboard side. The fitment trap on the Slingshot is not the brake clearance; it is the rear shock clearance on the wider rear wheels.

Why the Slingshot Three-Wheel Layout Changes the Wheel Buy

A Slingshot wheel set is two fronts and one rear, not four wheels. Both front wheels run the same width (7.5 to 9 inch in the aftermarket window) and carry steering and braking load with no drive load. The single rear wheel carries all the drive load alone, so it runs wider (9 to 12 inch in the aftermarket window) to put enough rubber on the road. The look is intentionally aggressive: the wider rear and the staggered visual matches the motorcycle-style aesthetic that defines the Slingshot. A square setup (same width all three corners) is not how we recommend building the Slingshot, and the factory ships staggered for the same reason.

Element Wheels measured aftermarket fitment, Polaris Slingshot

Publishable factory and wheel specs for 2014 and up:

  • Bolt pattern: 5x114.3 (5x4.5)
  • Hub bore: 66.1mm
  • Aftermarket diameter range: 18 to 24 inch (front and rear)
  • Aftermarket width range, front (two wheels): 7.5 to 9 inch
  • Aftermarket width range, rear (single wheel): 9 to 12 inch
  • Fitment style: must-staggered (narrower fronts, wider single rear)
  • Rear shock clearance trap: a 12 inch wide rear wheel requires a +45 offset minimum to clear the rear shock

Offset windows are controlled by the rear shock clearance on the single rear wheel. For your exact aftermarket offset, three options:

  • 1. Use our Year/Make/Model search to see wheels that fit your specific Slingshot (each listing shows its own offset).
  • 2. Browse the Slingshot wheel gallery for real-life builds with size, offset, and tire spec captions.
  • 3. Call or chat with our team for a free fitment consultation (recommended for buyers going 12 inch wide in the rear).

The 12 inch wide rear wheel sits at the edge of the fitment envelope. The rear shock on the Slingshot sits close to the inside of the rear wheel, and at 12 inch width the wheel barrel can foul the shock unless the offset pushes the wheel face outboard. Our measured threshold is +45 offset minimum at 12 inch width. Anything lower than +45 and the wheel will not clear the shock. We flag this on the fitment notes before shipping so the buyer knows what to expect on installation.

How We Confirm Fitment on Polaris Slingshot Wheels

Element Wheels measures fitment on the platforms we sell wheels for, including the Polaris Slingshot. For the Slingshot that means clearance from the front wheels to the fender, clearance from the single rear wheel to the rear shock, hub bore confirmation on all three wheels, lug stud height, and turning clearance on the front wheels. We measure directly on the autocycle. We do not pull these from manufacturer spec sheets the way most retailers do.

That measurement work is what produced the +45 offset minimum on 12 inch rear wheels and the width windows on this page. It is also why every wheel we recommend is backed by our Fitment Guarantee. If a wheel does not fit, we pick up the wheels and refund 100 percent. No risk to you.

Polaris Slingshot Wheels and Rims FAQ

How many wheels does a Polaris Slingshot use?

Three. The Slingshot is a three-wheeled autocycle with two front wheels and a single rear wheel. A Slingshot wheel set is therefore two fronts plus one rear, not four wheels. The front pair handles steering and braking; the single rear handles all the drive load and runs wider for that reason.

What is the bolt pattern on a Polaris Slingshot?

All three wheels use 5x114.3 (also written 5x4.5) with a 66.1mm hub bore. The 5x4.5 nickname comes from the imperial conversion (114.3mm equals 4.5 inches). This is NOT the same as 5x115, which is a separate pattern used on some GM and Mopar cars; the two sit roughly 0.7mm apart and are not interchangeable.

Why is the Slingshot rear wheel wider than the fronts?

The single rear wheel handles all the drive load on the Slingshot by itself. Without the help of a second drive wheel, the rear needs more tire on the road to put the power down without losing traction. Our aftermarket width window is 7.5 to 9 inch on the two fronts and 9 to 12 inch on the single rear. The wider rear also matches the motorcycle-style aesthetic the Slingshot is built around.

Can I run a 12 inch wide rear wheel on my Slingshot?

Yes, but only with a +45 offset minimum. The rear shock on the Slingshot sits close to the inside of the rear wheel. At 12 inch width, the wheel barrel can foul the shock unless the offset pushes the wheel face outboard far enough. We measured +45 as the minimum offset that clears. Anything lower than +45 at 12 inch width and the wheel will not clear the shock. We flag this on the fitment notes before shipping.

What is the largest wheel I can fit on a Polaris Slingshot?

Our measured aftermarket window tops at 24 inch diameter on the Slingshot, front or rear. Most Slingshot buyers land at 20 or 22 inch. The 24 inch ceiling is set by tire availability in the right widths for the staggered Slingshot setup; above 24 inch the tire selection shrinks significantly.

Do I need hub centric rings on a Polaris Slingshot?

Hub centric rings only when the aftermarket wheel has a centerbore larger than 66.1mm. If your fitment needs rings, they'll be included with the order.

Can I use car wheels on my Slingshot?

The 5x114.3 bolt pattern and 66.1mm hub bore on the Slingshot match a wide range of Japanese and American cars, so on paper a car wheel can bolt to the Slingshot hub. In practice the wheel needs the right offset to clear the rear shock on the single rear wheel and the right width to match the staggered Slingshot setup. A car wheel marketed without Slingshot-specific fitment notes can foul the rear shock or sit at the wrong stance. Use the Year/Make/Model search to confirm the wheel was fit-tested on the Slingshot specifically.

How do I find the right wheels for my specific Polaris Slingshot?

Use our Year/Make/Model search to see wheels that fit your specific Slingshot (each listing publishes its own offset) and browse the wheel gallery for real-life builds. If you are going 12 inch wide in the rear, contact our team for a free fitment consultation before ordering because the rear shock clearance window is tight. Every wheel we recommend is backed by the Fitment Guarantee.
