Pontiac Fiero Aftermarket Wheel Fitment
The Pontiac Fiero is the mid-engine, plastic-bodied two-seater Pontiac built from 1984 through 1988 on GM's purpose-built P-body platform. Element Wheels measures fitment on the 1984-1988 Fiero, which covers every trim from the base 2.5L Iron Duke through the Fiero GT 2.8L V6 performance variant and the 1988 Fiero Formula. Every Fiero in that range shares the same hub: 5x100 bolt pattern, 54.1mm hub bore, M12x1.5 lug thread, 5 lugs. The Fiero diameter window runs 13 to 18 inch. Pick the catalog row below.
Find Your Pontiac Fiero Generation
The 1984-1988 Fiero is the only generation Pontiac built. It ran on GM's P-body platform for its full five model year production life. Every body style (notchback coupe, fastback) and every trim from the base Fiero through SE, Sport, the Fiero GT with the 2.8L V6, and the 1988 Fiero Formula share the same hub. Production ended in 1988 when GM discontinued the platform.
The Pontiac Fiero Bolt Pattern
The 1984-1988 Fiero uses a 5x100 bolt pattern with a 54.1mm hub bore and an M12x1.5 lug thread. 5x100 is the small-car five-lug GM hub spec from the 1980s. The Fiero shares 5x100 with a long list of later compact and sports platforms, including the Toyota Corolla, the Toyota Matrix and Pontiac Vibe, the Subaru WRX (older models), and the Scion FR-S / Toyota 86 / Subaru BRZ.
Important distinction: bolt pattern matches across those platforms, but hub bore does not. The Fiero hub bore is 54.1mm. Subaru WRX and Toyota 86 / Subaru BRZ run a 56.1mm hub bore. Toyota Matrix and Pontiac Vibe share the Fiero's 54.1mm hub bore exactly. A 5x100 wheel built for a Subaru with a 56.1mm bore can be hub centered on a Fiero with rings, but a 5x100 wheel with a smaller-than-54.1mm bore will not seat on the Fiero hub at all. The 5x4.5 imperial nickname refers only to 5x114.3, not 5x100, so don't confuse the Fiero's metric 5x100 with the 5x114.3 used on Mustangs, Civics, and many Japanese rear drive platforms. Compare across the rest of the Pontiac lineup at our Pontiac wheels and rims hub.
Why Fiero Fitment Is Stable Across Every Trim
The Fiero kept the same hub geometry across every trim and every model year. The base 1984 Fiero with the 2.5L Iron Duke four cylinder, the 1985-1988 Fiero SE, the 1985-1988 Fiero GT with the 2.8L V6, and the 1988 Fiero Formula all share the same 5x100 bolt pattern, 54.1mm hub bore, M12x1.5 lug thread, and brake package on the catalog. The GT and Formula differ from the base car in engine, suspension tuning, and trim, not in wheel fitment. A wheel that fits a 1985 base Fiero also fits a 1985 Fiero GT and a 1988 Fiero Formula.
The diameter window we measure on the Fiero runs 13 inch on the low end up to 18 inch on the show-build end. The factory Fiero shipped with 13 and 14 inch wheels depending on year and trim, and the 1987-1988 GT moved up to 15 inch from the factory. 15 to 17 inch is the most common Fiero aftermarket choice for street builds today. 18 inch is the upper limit on this platform, and runs best with a thin sidewall tire and careful offset selection to clear the factory strut and fender. The Fiero is square fitment, same width front and rear in our measured range (5.5 to 8 inch). We measure each variant directly so the catalog reflects what actually clears the fender and the brake on this mid-engine layout, not just what the spec sheet implies.
Element Wheels Measured Aftermarket Fitment, Pontiac Fiero
Publishable factory and wheel specs across the Fiero lineup we cover:
- 1984-1988 Fiero (base, SE, Sport, GT, Formula): 5x100 bolt pattern, 54.1mm hub bore, M12x1.5 lug thread, 5 lug. Element aftermarket diameter range: 13-18 inch. Aftermarket width range: 5.5-8 inch, square front and rear. Same brake size front and rear across every trim.
For your exact aftermarket offset, three options:
- 1. Use our Year/Make/Model search to see wheels that fit your specific Fiero (each listing shows its own offset).
- 2. Browse the Fiero wheel gallery for real-life builds with size, offset, and tire spec captions.
- 3. Call or chat with our team for a free fitment consultation.
Every wheel we recommend is backed by our Fitment Guarantee. If a wheel does not fit, we pick up the wheels and refund 100 percent. No risk to you.
How We Confirm Fitment on Pontiac Fiero Wheels
Element Wheels measures fitment on the Fiero directly, across the base 2.5L car, the SE, the GT with the 2.8L V6, and the 1988 Formula. For the Fiero that means hub bore confirmation at 54.1mm, clearance from the wheel to the fender on a stock-height car, gap between the back of the wheel and the front strut tower (the Fiero's front trunk layout makes this tight), brake caliper height at the small-platform spec, lug seat depth, and lug thread confirmation at M12x1.5. At our fitment facility in Chandler, Arizona, the Element Wheels team measures directly on the physical platforms we support. We don't pull specs from manufacturer sheets the way most retailers do.
Pontiac Fiero Wheels and Rims FAQ
What is the bolt pattern on a Pontiac Fiero?
The 1984-1988 Pontiac Fiero uses a 5x100 bolt pattern with a 54.1mm hub bore and an M12x1.5 lug thread. Every trim in that range (base, SE, Sport, GT with the 2.8L V6, and 1988 Formula) shares the same 5-lug hub geometry.
Does the Fiero GT take different wheels than a base Fiero?
Same 5x100 bolt pattern, same 54.1mm hub bore, same M12x1.5 lug thread, same brake package as the base Fiero of the same model year. Pontiac did not pair the GT's 2.8L V6 with an upgraded hub or brake on the catalog. A wheel that fits a 1985 base Fiero coupe also fits a 1985 Fiero GT. The GT differs from the base car in engine output, suspension tuning, and trim, not in wheel fitment.
Will Toyota Matrix or Pontiac Vibe wheels fit a Fiero?
Pattern and hub bore yes, full fitment confirm. The 2003-2010 Toyota Matrix and 2003-2010 Pontiac Vibe share the 5x100 bolt pattern and the 54.1mm hub bore with the Fiero. The bolt circle and hub bore line up. Offset windows and fender geometry are very different between a mid-engine Fiero and a front wheel drive Matrix or Vibe, so confirm the wheel listing was fit-tested on the Fiero specifically or sits inside the offset window we measure for the Fiero.
Is 5x100 the same as 5x114.3 (the 5x4.5 imperial pattern)?
No. 5x100 and 5x114.3 are different bolt patterns. They sit about 14.3mm apart on the hub circle, which is a large enough gap that a 5x114.3 wheel will not start on a 5x100 hub. The 5x4.5 imperial nickname refers only to 5x114.3 (114.3mm equals 4.5 inch) and does not apply to the Fiero. The Fiero is 5x100 specifically. Confirm any wheel listing says 5x100 before ordering.
Can I run staggered wheels on a Pontiac Fiero?
Square fitment is what we measure on this platform. The Fiero is rear wheel drive and mid-engine, so a stagger setup is a known look on this car among enthusiasts, but our measured window for the Fiero is square front and rear (5.5 to 8 inch). If you want a staggered setup, call our team for a custom fitment consultation and we'll measure the wider rear option before you order.
Will Subaru WRX or Toyota 86 wheels fit a Fiero?
Pattern yes, hub bore needs hub rings. The older Subaru WRX (2002-2014) and the Toyota 86 / Subaru BRZ / Scion FR-S share the 5x100 bolt pattern with the Fiero, but they use a 56.1mm hub bore versus the Fiero's 54.1mm hub bore. A 5x100 wheel made for a Subaru with a 56.1mm bore will need hub rings to center properly on a Fiero. Offset windows and fender geometry are also different across these platforms, so confirm the wheel listing was fit-tested on the Fiero specifically.
What is the largest wheel I can fit on a Pontiac Fiero?
18 inch is the top of our measured aftermarket window on the 1984-1988 Fiero. The factory range was 13 to 15 inch depending on year and trim. 15 to 17 inch is the most common Fiero aftermarket choice for street builds. 18 inch is the show-build choice and runs best with a thin sidewall tire and careful offset selection to clear the factory strut and fender on a stock-height car.
Do I need hub centric rings on a Pontiac Fiero?
Hub centric rings only when the aftermarket wheel has a centerbore larger than the Fiero's 54.1mm factory hub bore. If your fitment needs rings, they'll be included with the order.
