Pontiac Torrent Aftermarket Wheel Fitment

The Pontiac Torrent is Pontiac's only SUV, a compact crossover sold from 2006 through 2009 on GM's Theta platform as the twin of the Chevrolet Equinox and the second gen Saturn Vue. Element Wheels measures fitment on the 2006-2009 Torrent, which covers every trim from base through the Torrent GXP performance variant. Every Torrent in that range shares the same hub: 5x115 bolt pattern, 70.3mm hub bore, M12x1.5 lug thread, 5 lugs. The Torrent diameter window we measure runs 16 to 22 inch. Pick the catalog row below.

Find Your Pontiac Torrent Generation

The 2006-2009 Torrent is the only generation Pontiac built. It ran on GM's Theta platform for its full production life. All trims from base through GT and the Torrent GXP performance variant share the same hub. Production ended in 2009 with the Pontiac brand wind down, the same year the Saturn Vue ended on the same platform.

The Pontiac Torrent Bolt Pattern

The 2006-2009 Torrent uses a 5x115 bolt pattern with a 70.3mm hub bore and an M12x1.5 lug thread. 5x115 is the GM Theta platform crossover spec from the mid 2000s. The same 5x115 / 70.3mm hub appears on the Chevrolet Equinox (2005-2009 first gen) and the Saturn Vue (2008-2009 second gen), the two other vehicles built on the GM Theta platform. The bolt circle and hub bore line up exactly across those three Theta platform SUVs.

Important distinction: the Torrent is 5x115, not 5x114.3. They look almost identical on paper but sit about 0.7mm apart on the hub circle. That 0.7mm is enough that the studs do not start cleanly on the wrong pattern, and forcing a 5x114.3 wheel onto a 5x115 hub stresses the studs unevenly. The 5x4.5 imperial nickname refers only to 5x114.3 (114.3mm equals 4.5 inch) and does not apply to the Torrent. Confirm any wheel listing says 5x115 before ordering. Compare across the rest of the Pontiac lineup at our Pontiac wheels and rims hub.

Why Torrent Fitment Is Stable Across Every Trim

The Torrent kept the same hub geometry across every trim and every model year. Base, GT, the Torrent GXP performance variant with the 3.6L LY7 V6 and standard AWD, the front wheel drive variants, and the AWD variants all share the same 5x115 bolt pattern, 70.3mm hub bore, M12x1.5 lug thread, and brake package footprint on the catalog. The Torrent GXP came standard with 18 inch chrome factory wheels and a sport-tuned suspension, but it does not differ in hub spec from the base Torrent. A wheel that fits a base 2007 Torrent also fits a 2008 Torrent GXP of the same year range, drivetrain notwithstanding.

The diameter window we measure on the Torrent runs 16 inch on the low end up to 22 inch on the show-build end. Factory Torrent wheels ran 16 to 18 inch depending on trim, with the Torrent GXP getting the 18 inch chrome alloys. 18 to 20 inch is the most common Torrent aftermarket choice for everyday driving. 22 inch is the show-build ceiling on this catalog. The Torrent is a unibody compact SUV with the same width front and rear, so the catalog runs square fitment only. We measure each variant directly so the catalog reflects what actually clears the fender and the brake, not just what the spec sheet implies.

Element Wheels Measured Aftermarket Fitment, Pontiac Torrent

Publishable factory and wheel specs across the Torrent lineup we cover:

  • 2006-2009 Torrent (base, GT, GXP, FWD, AWD): 5x115 bolt pattern, 70.3mm hub bore, M12x1.5 lug thread, 5 lug. Element aftermarket diameter range: 16-22 inch. Aftermarket width range: 7.5-9.0 inch, same front and rear. Square fitment only. Same brake size front and rear across every trim.

For your exact aftermarket offset, three options:

  • 1. Use our Year/Make/Model search to see wheels that fit your specific Torrent (each listing shows its own offset).
  • 2. Browse the Torrent wheel gallery for real-life builds with size, offset, and tire spec captions.
  • 3. Call or chat with our team for a free fitment consultation.

Every wheel we recommend is backed by our Fitment Guarantee. If a wheel does not fit, we pick up the wheels and refund 100 percent. No risk to you.

How We Confirm Fitment on Pontiac Torrent Wheels

Element Wheels measures fitment on the Torrent directly, across the base FWD, the AWD variants, the GT, and the Torrent GXP. For the Torrent that means hub bore confirmation at 70.3mm, clearance from the wheel to the fender on a stock-height crossover, gap between the back of the wheel and the front strut, brake caliper height at the standard Theta platform spec (with the larger GXP brake checked separately), lug seat depth, and lug thread confirmation at M12x1.5. At our fitment facility in Chandler, Arizona, the Element Wheels team measures directly on the physical platforms we support. We don't pull specs from manufacturer sheets the way most retailers do.

Pontiac Torrent Wheels and Rims FAQ

What is the bolt pattern on a Pontiac Torrent?

The 2006-2009 Pontiac Torrent uses a 5x115 bolt pattern with a 70.3mm hub bore and an M12x1.5 lug thread. Every trim in that range (base, GT, Torrent GXP, FWD, AWD) shares the same 5-lug hub geometry.

Does the Torrent GXP take different wheels than a base Torrent?

Same hub spec, larger factory size. The Torrent GXP uses the same 5x115 bolt pattern, same 70.3mm hub bore, and same M12x1.5 lug thread as the base Torrent. The GXP came standard with 18 inch chrome factory wheels rather than the 16 to 17 inch base trim wheels, and the suspension tuning is firmer, but the hub footprint is the same. A wheel that fits a base 2007 Torrent also fits a 2008 Torrent GXP.

Will Chevrolet Equinox or Saturn Vue wheels fit a Torrent?

Yes, hub spec matches. The Torrent shares the GM Theta platform with the Chevrolet Equinox (2005-2009 first gen) and the Saturn Vue (2008-2009 second gen). All three use the same 5x115 / 70.3mm hub with M12x1.5 lugs. The bolt circle, the hub bore, and the brake clearance window are aligned across the trio. Offset windows and fender geometry are very close but vary slightly between the three, so confirm the wheel listing was fit-tested on the Torrent specifically or sits inside the offset window we measure for the Torrent.

Is 5x115 the same as 5x114.3 (the 5x4.5 imperial pattern)?

No. 5x115 and 5x114.3 are different bolt patterns. They sit about 0.7mm apart on the hub circle. The patterns look identical on paper but the lug studs will not start cleanly on the wrong pattern, and forcing the wrong pattern stresses the studs unevenly and causes wheel wobble over miles. The 5x4.5 imperial nickname refers only to 5x114.3 (114.3mm equals 4.5 inch) and does not apply to the Torrent. The Torrent is 5x115 specifically. Confirm any wheel listing says 5x115 before ordering.

Does FWD versus AWD change the wheel spec on a Torrent?

No. The FWD Torrent and the AWD Torrent share the same 5x115 bolt pattern, the same 70.3mm hub bore, the same diameter window, and the same width window. Both drivetrains use M12x1.5 lugs. A wheel that fits the FWD Torrent fits the AWD Torrent of the same year and same trim level.

Can I run staggered wheels on a Pontiac Torrent?

No. The Torrent runs square fitment only in the catalog (same width front and rear). It is a transverse-engine compact SUV with the same fender width front and rear, so the wider rear stance that staggered fitment chases on rear wheel drive cars isn't on the table here. Pick a single width across all four corners. On AWD Torrents, square is also the safe choice from a driveline standpoint.

What is the largest wheel I can fit on a Pontiac Torrent?

22 inch is the top of our measured aftermarket window on the 2006-2009 Torrent. Factory Torrent wheels were 16 to 18 inch depending on trim, with the GXP at 18 inch. 18 to 20 inch is the most common Torrent aftermarket choice for everyday driving. 22 inch is the show-build choice. Above 22 inch the tire sidewall thins enough that ride quality drops sharply on the Theta platform's compact SUV suspension.

Do I need hub centric rings on a Pontiac Torrent?

Hub centric rings only when the aftermarket wheel has a centerbore larger than the Torrent's 70.3mm factory hub bore. If your fitment needs rings, they'll be included with the order.
