The Porsche 911 Carrera is one of the most variant-heavy platforms in our catalog. Element Wheels measures fitment across eleven 911 generation and trim leaves, from the air-cooled 993 (1994-1998) through the current 992 and 992.2 (2020 and up). The 911 carries a 5x130 bolt pattern with a 71.5mm hub bore on every 5-lug Carrera. The newer 992 GT3 and the 992 Turbo with carbon-ceramic brakes both run a Porsche centerlock interface instead of a bolt pattern. The 911 is also a square-fitment-from-the-factory exception: every generation runs a wider rear wheel than front, often two or three inches wider, and the offset windows are tight enough that a wheel built for the front will not work in the rear. Trim matters as much as year on the 911; the Turbo, GTS, GT3, and Targa variants often run different brake packages and different fitment windows than the base Carrera of the same generation. The 992 also splits into steel-brake and carbon-ceramic-brake variants, with the centerlock interface appearing on the GT3 and on the Turbo with carbon ceramics.

The Porsche 911 Bolt Pattern (and the Centerlock Carve-Out)

Every 5-lug Porsche 911 Carrera from the 993 through the current 992 and 992.2 uses 5x130 with a 71.5mm hub bore. Porsche has held that spec for over thirty years across the air-cooled, water-cooled, and modern turbocharged eras. Lug count is straightforward; if your 911 has five visible studs and lug nuts on each wheel, it is 5x130 / 71.5mm. Within the Porsche lineup, the 5x130 / 71.5mm hub is also used on the Cayenne, the Panamera, and the Macan Electric (95C, 2024 and up). The pre-2024 Macan ICE (95B, 2014-2024) is NOT 5x130. It runs the MLB Evo platform's 5x112 with a 66.56mm hub bore, the same architecture as the Audi A4/A5/A6/Q5/Q7. 5x130 wheels do NOT fit Macan ICE (95B); that is the most common Porsche family confusion. Audi platforms split the same way: the older D1/D2-era Audi V12 Q7 used 5x130, while the rest of the modern Audi lineup runs 5x112. Offset windows differ enough between platforms that we measure 911 fitments separately even when the bolt math matches.

The centerlock cars are the exception. The 992 GT3 (2022 and up) and the 992 Turbo with carbon-ceramic brakes (2022 and up) both run Porsche's centerlock wheel interface instead of a 5-lug hub. A centerlock wheel uses a single large central nut and a splined hub instead of a five-stud bolt pattern. The hub bore on a 911 centerlock car is 101mm, not 71.5mm. The 5x130 wheels we sell for a 5-lug 992 Turbo do not bolt onto a centerlock 992 Turbo. This is the most-mistaken spec on the 992 platform: the same model year and the same Turbo trim can be either 5-lug or centerlock depending on which brake package the car was ordered with. Carbon-ceramic brake cars are typically centerlock from 2022 onward, but not exclusively, so the configuration sheet for your specific car is the source of truth.

Why Every 911 Carrera Runs Staggered Fitment

The 911 is a rear-engine, rear-drive (or rear-biased all-wheel-drive) car. The drivetrain weight sits behind the rear axle and the rear tires put down the power. Porsche specs a wider rear wheel and tire on every Carrera, typically two to three inches wider in the rear than in the front. On the 992 Turbo and GT3 the rear wheel is often a 12 to 13 inch wide rim wrapped in a 305 to 325 tire, paired with a 9 to 10 inch wide front. That staggered factory setup is part of what defines the 911 driving experience and the aftermarket window respects it. We do not recommend square setups on a 911 Carrera; the chassis is engineered around the staggered geometry.

On the Turbo trims of the 996, 997, and 991 generations, and on the 992 across all variants, the front brake package is larger than the rear. That is normal on a performance car of this caliber; the front axle does the majority of the braking work and Porsche scales the front rotor and caliper accordingly. The front wheel needs more inner-barrel clearance for the larger front caliper. We measure this directly on each variant, which is why our 911 fitments separate Base/S from Turbo/4S even within the same generation.
