Scion iA Aftermarket Wheel Fitment

The Scion iA is the 2016-only subcompact sedan that closed out the Scion brand in the US market. Underneath the badge it is a Mazda 2 (DJ chassis), assembled in Mexico and supplied to Toyota for the final Scion model year before the brand was retired. After 2016 the same car continued as the Toyota Yaris iA for 2017-2018 and later became the Toyota Yaris sedan. Because the iA is a Mazda 2 underneath, its wheel hardware follows the Mazda 2 spec, not the Toyota Yaris hatch spec. The iA uses 4x100 with a 54.1mm hub bore, four lugs, M12x1.5 thread pitch, and runs a 16-18 inch diameter window with 5.5-7.5 inch widths square front and rear. Brake hardware is matched front and rear. The car is front-wheel-drive and uses a square fitment. Pick your year below and the recommendations follow.

Find Your Scion iA

The Scion iA was sold in the US for one model year only. If your car is a 2017 or later with the same body, it is a Toyota Yaris iA or Toyota Yaris sedan, not a Scion. The wheel fitment is the same across the badge change, but the listings live under the Toyota make in our catalog.

The Scion iA Bolt Pattern

The Scion iA uses 4x100 with a 54.1mm hub bore. That is the same wheel spec used on the Mazda 2 (DJ chassis) sold globally from 2014 through 2019, which makes sense because the iA is a Mazda 2 with a Scion badge. The four-lug pattern is common across compact and subcompact cars from a long list of manufacturers, including the Toyota Yaris hatch, the Honda Fit, the Mini Cooper, and many older Hondas and Mazdas. The 54.1mm hub bore is shared with the Mazda 2 lineage and with the Scion xA, xB, xD, iQ, and 1st generation tC.

Important to flag: 4x100 is NOT the same as 4x108 or 4x114.3. The lug count is the same (four) but the bolt circle diameter is different. A wheel from a Ford Focus (4x108) or older Nissan 240SX (4x114.3) will not bolt to the iA. Thread pitch on the iA is M12x1.5. Compare across the rest of the Scion lineup at our Scion wheels and rims hub.

Why the Scion iA is a Mazda Underneath

When Toyota and Mazda finalized their cross-supply partnership in the mid 2010s, the Scion iA was the first product to ship from it. Toyota needed a subcompact sedan to round out the Scion lineup in the brand's final years, and Mazda needed scale on the Mazda 2 (DJ) platform out of its Mexico plant. The iA was the result: a Mazda 2 sedan built in Salamanca, Mexico, sold under the Scion badge for one model year. Everything mechanical follows the Mazda 2, including the SkyActiv 1.5L four-cylinder, the suspension geometry, and the wheel hardware. Toyota did not change the bolt pattern, hub bore, brake clearance, or fender geometry when it badged the car as a Scion.

When the Scion brand was retired in late 2016, the same car carried over as the Toyota Yaris iA for 2017 and 2018, and later became the Toyota Yaris sedan. The wheel fitment did not change across the badge transitions. If you have a 2017 or 2018 Toyota Yaris iA or a 2019 Yaris sedan, the listings on our site live under the Toyota make, but they will share the same 4x100 / 54.1mm spec.

How We Confirm Fitment on Scion iA Wheels

Element Wheels measures fitment on the platforms we sell wheels for, including the Scion iA. For the iA that means clearance from the wheel to the fender, gap between the back of the wheel and the suspension, brake caliper height, hub bore confirmation at 54.1mm, and turning clearance with the wheel and tire installed. At our fitment facility in Chandler, Arizona, the Element Wheels team measures directly on the physical platforms we support, including the Mazda 2 / Scion iA / Toyota Yaris iA family that shares this hardware. We don't pull specs from manufacturer sheets the way most retailers do. That measurement work is what produced the 16-18 inch diameter range and the 5.5-7.5 inch width range on the iA, along with the square-only fitment guidance.

Scion iA Wheels and Rims FAQ

What is the bolt pattern on a Scion iA?

The 2016 Scion iA uses 4x100 with a 54.1mm hub bore. Lug count is four, thread pitch is M12x1.5. The same wheel spec is used on the Mazda 2 (DJ chassis) that the iA is rebadged from, and on the Toyota Yaris iA / Toyota Yaris sedan that followed in 2017+.

What is the hub bore on a Scion iA?

The Scion iA hub bore is 54.1mm. If your fitment needs rings, they'll be included with the order.

Is the Scion iA really a Mazda 2?

Yes. The Scion iA is a Mazda 2 (DJ chassis) sedan, built by Mazda in Salamanca, Mexico, supplied to Toyota and sold under the Scion badge for the 2016 model year. The chassis, suspension, engine, and wheel hardware are all Mazda 2. Toyota did not change the bolt pattern, hub bore, or brake clearance for the badge change.

Will Mazda 2 or Toyota Yaris iA wheels fit a Scion iA?

Yes, all three are the same car. The Mazda 2 (DJ chassis, 2014-2019 global market), Scion iA (2016 US), and Toyota Yaris iA / Yaris sedan (2017+ US) all share 4x100 / 54.1mm hub bore. A wheel that fits one will share lug math and hub centering on the others. Width and offset still need to match what each variant accepts at the body and brake. The Toyota Yaris hatchback is a different car (Toyota platform, different bolt pattern), so its wheels do NOT cross to the iA.

What is the largest wheel I can fit on a Scion iA?

Our measured aftermarket window tops at 18 inch on the iA. The full range is 16-18 inch with 5.5-7.5 inch widths square front and rear. Above 18 inch the tire sidewall gets too thin for a daily-driver subcompact where ride quality matters.

Can I run staggered wheels on a Scion iA?

We recommend square on the iA. The car is front-wheel-drive, the factory setup is square, and our measured aftermarket window keeps front and rear width matched (5.5-7.5 inch on both axles). A square setup also keeps tire rotation possible across all four corners.

Do I need hub centric rings on a Scion iA?

Hub centric rings only when the aftermarket wheel has a centerbore larger than the iA's 54.1mm hub bore. If your fitment needs rings, they'll be included with the order.

Why was the Scion iA sold for only one year?

Toyota retired the Scion brand at the end of the 2016 model year. The iA was one of the last cars introduced under the Scion badge, and when the brand wound down the same car carried over to Toyota dealers as the 2017 Toyota Yaris iA, and later the Toyota Yaris sedan. The Scion iA exists for the 2016 model year only.

Get Scion iA Wheels Right the First Time

The 2016 Scion iA is a one-year-only car with a niche following, and most generic spec calculators do not know the iA's underlying Mazda 2 platform. We measure on this platform, confirm the 4x100 / 54.1mm spec on every listing, and keep the aftermarket window honest about ride quality and brake clearance. Find your fit and start enjoying your build sooner.
