Subaru Impreza Aftermarket Wheel Fitment
This is the parent hub for the standard Subaru Impreza, the naturally-aspirated 2.0L compact sedan and 5-door hatchback. Element Wheels measures fitment across every Impreza generation, from the original 1st gen GC sedan and GF wagon (1993-2001) through the current 6th gen GU 4-door and 5-door (2024 and up). Six generations are covered: GC/GF (1993-2001), GD (2002-2007), GH/GR (2008-2014), GJ/GP (2012-2016), GK (2017-2023), and GU (2024 and up). The Subaru WRX is a separate car with its own parent hub. Through 2014 the WRX was still badged as an Impreza WRX, and the Element WRX hub covers those legacy years; in 2015 Subaru split the WRX off the Impreza nameplate, and in 2022 the rebrand was completed when the WRX became a fully standalone model. If you have a WRX or STI, the right hub is the Subaru WRX wheels and rims hub, not this page.
The bolt pattern history on the standard Impreza is straightforward with one recent change. Every Impreza from 1993 through the 5th gen GK (2017-2023) ran 5x100 with a 56.1mm hub bore. The 6th gen GU (2024 and up) moved to 5x114.3 with the same 56.1mm hub bore. The 5x100 pattern held for thirty years on the standard Impreza, and a 5x100 wheel will NOT bolt onto a 2024 or later Impreza. Pick your generation below for the fitment specs that apply to your specific Impreza.
Find Your Subaru Impreza Generation
Pick your generation to see wheels and rims that fit your specific Impreza. The bolt pattern is 5x100 on every 1993-2023 standard Impreza and 5x114.3 on the 2024 and up 6th gen. The hub bore stays 56.1mm across every generation. AWD is standard on every Impreza, so square fitment is the default on this car.
The Subaru Impreza Bolt Pattern, and the 2024 Switch
For thirty years the standard Subaru Impreza ran 5x100 with a 56.1mm hub bore. That covered every 1st gen GC sedan and GF wagon (1993-2001), every 2nd gen GD (2002-2007), every 3rd gen GH and GR (2008-2014), every 4th gen GJ sedan and GP 5-door (2012-2016), and every 5th gen GK 4-door and 5-door (2017-2023). The Subaru BRZ and Toyota 86 share the 5x100 pattern with the older Imprezas, as do most non-WRX naturally-aspirated Subarus from that era.
Starting with the 6th gen GU Impreza (2024 and up), Subaru moved the standard Impreza to 5x114.3 with the same 56.1mm hub bore. A 5x100 wheel from a 2023 or earlier Impreza will NOT bolt onto a 2024 or later Impreza. The 5x114.3 pattern is also written as 5x4.5 in imperial; that imperial nickname refers ONLY to 5x114.3 (114.3mm = 4.5 inches) and not to 5x115. A wheel listed for 5x115 (Chrysler 300, Dodge Charger LX) will NOT bolt onto a 2024 Impreza either, even though the difference reads as less than a millimeter. The hub bore stays 56.1mm across every Impreza generation, so the hub-fit geometry is consistent across the entire 30-plus-year platform run.
The standard Impreza has always shared its bolt pattern history with the base Impreza WRX of the same era: 5x100 on the 2002-2014 base WRX, switching to 5x114.3 on the standalone WRX from 2015 onward. The STI has been 5x114.3 from its 2004 US debut. This page covers the standard Impreza only; for WRX and STI fitment, see the Subaru WRX wheels and rims hub. Compare across the rest of the Subaru lineup at our Subaru wheels and rims hub.
Why Standard Imprezas Run Square Fitment
Every standard Impreza is symmetric all-wheel-drive from the factory. Subaru has used a longitudinally-mounted boxer engine paired with a center differential and front-rear torque split since the 1st gen GC. That drivetrain requires matched circumference at all four corners; a wheel and tire combo that is taller in the rear than the front (or vice versa) confuses the center diff and stresses the transfer case over miles. Square fitment is not optional on an Impreza, it is the engineering constraint. Element catalog rows for every Impreza generation reflect this: matched front-rear width across the entire range, no staggered option, with the wheel diameter and tire spec held identical front to rear.
The brake package on the standard Impreza is matched front to rear across every generation. There is no front-larger-than-rear split on this car the way there is on a WRX, STI, or a performance sedan like the Lexus IS 350. The standard Impreza is a daily driver with modest brakes, which keeps the aftermarket diameter window open from 16 inch all the way to the high end. We measure each generation directly, which is what produced the publishable factory and aftermarket windows below.

How We Confirm Fitment on Subaru Impreza Wheels
Element Wheels measures fitment on the platforms we sell wheels for, including every Impreza generation from the 1993 GC sedan through the current GU 4-door and 5-door. For the Impreza that means clearance from the wheel to the fender, gap between the back of the wheel and the suspension, brake caliper height, hub bore confirmation (56.1mm across every generation), lug seat geometry, and confirmation that the wheel and tire match circumference front to rear so the symmetric AWD system stays happy. At our fitment facility in Chandler, Arizona, the Element Wheels team measures directly on the physical platforms we support. We don't pull specs from manufacturer sheets the way most retailers do.
Subaru Impreza Wheels and Rims FAQ
What is the bolt pattern on a Subaru Impreza?
5x100 on every standard Impreza from 1993 through 2023, switching to 5x114.3 on the 2024 and up 6th gen GU Impreza. Hub bore is 56.1mm across every generation. This is the standard Impreza only; the WRX and STI have their own pattern history (5x100 on the 2002-2014 base WRX and the 2004-2007 GD STI; 5x114.3 starting with the 2008-2014 GR STI and on every standalone WRX and STI from 2015 onward).
Did Subaru change the Impreza bolt pattern in 2024?
Yes. The 6th gen GU Impreza (2024 and up) moved from 5x100 to 5x114.3, with the hub bore staying at 56.1mm. Wheels from a 2023 or earlier Impreza do not bolt onto a 2024 Impreza. The change brought the standard Impreza into line with the WRX pattern (which has been 5x114.3 since 2015) and aligned the Impreza with the rest of the modern Subaru lineup's larger sedans.
Is this hub for the WRX or the standard Impreza?
This page is for the standard, naturally-aspirated 2.0L Subaru Impreza only. The WRX, including the older 2002-2014 cars that were badged as Impreza WRX, lives on a separate parent hub. Subaru split the WRX from the Impreza nameplate in 2015 (when the WRX became its own standalone car) and finalized the split in 2022 when the rebrand was completed. If you have a 2002 or newer WRX or an STI, the right hub is the Subaru WRX wheels and rims hub.
Are Subaru Impreza wheels staggered?
No. Every standard Impreza is symmetric all-wheel-drive from the factory and the symmetric AWD system requires matched circumference at all four corners. A staggered setup (wider rear than front) confuses the center differential and stresses the transfer case over miles. Element catalog rows reflect this: matched front-rear width across every generation, no staggered option. The same constraint applies to the WRX and STI, both of which are AWD as well.
Will WRX or STI wheels fit a standard Subaru Impreza?
Depends on the year of both. Pre-2015 base Impreza WRX wheels (5x100) bolt onto a standard 5x100 Impreza of the same era, and the 2004-2007 GD STI is also 5x100 so its wheels also bolt onto a 5x100 standard Impreza. GR STI (2008-2014) and every 2015 and newer STI is 5x114.3, which does NOT bolt onto a pre-2024 standard Impreza but does bolt onto the 2024 and up GU Impreza. The geometry can still be off even when the lug pattern matches; a wheel sized for a wider STI fender may sit poke-out on a standard Impreza. The Year/Make/Model search filters this for your specific car.
What size wheels and tires came on the standard Impreza from the factory?
Factory sizes range from 14 inch steel wheels on the entry-level 1st gen GC trims up to 18 inch alloy on the higher trims of the 5th and 6th gen. Most standard Imprezas across the modern generations shipped on 16 inch or 17 inch factory wheels with a 6.5-7 inch width and a 205/55 or 215/50 tire. Higher Sport trims of the GK and GU run 18 inch factory. The standard Impreza was not built as a wide-wheel car at any point.
Do I need hub centric rings on a Subaru Impreza?
Hub centric rings only when the aftermarket wheel has a centerbore larger than 56.1mm. That holds across every Subaru Impreza generation since the hub bore stays 56.1mm from the 1993 GC through the current GU. If your fitment needs rings, they'll be included with the order.
How do I find the right wheels for my specific Impreza build?
Two steps. Confirm your generation and year (the bolt pattern split is at the 2024 GU transition: pre-2024 is 5x100, 2024 and up is 5x114.3). Confirm you have the standard Impreza and not a WRX or STI. Use our Year/Make/Model search to see wheels that fit your specific Impreza and browse the wheel gallery for real-life builds. Every wheel we recommend is backed by the Fitment Guarantee.
