Subaru Solterra Aftermarket Wheel Fitment

The Subaru Solterra is Subaru's first fully electric crossover, launched for the 2023 model year and currently produced. It is the only Subaru built on Toyota's e-TNGA EV platform and shares its underlying chassis with the Toyota bZ4X. Because of that platform choice, the Solterra's wheel fitment spec looks NOTHING like the rest of the Subaru lineup. Across the entire 2023 and up run, the Solterra runs a 5x114.3 bolt pattern with a 60.1mm hub bore. Yes, 60.1mm. That is different from every other modern Subaru, which uses a 56.1mm hub bore. The Solterra also uses lug bolts (not the lug-nut-on-stud setup the rest of Subaru uses) with an M14x1.25 thread pitch instead of the M12x1.25 thread Subaru runs on the Outback, Forester, Ascent, and the gas Subarus. If you cross-shop wheels between your Solterra and another Subaru in your driveway, the hardware does not interchange. Element Wheels measures fitment on the Solterra at our facility, including the bolt-and-hub geometry that makes this platform different from every other Subaru we sell wheels for.

Find Your Subaru Solterra

The Solterra is a single-generation nameplate at this point (2023 and up). Bolt pattern (5x114.3), hub bore (60.1mm), thread pitch (M14x1.25), and lug type (bolt, not nut on stud) are constant across every Solterra year. AWD is standard, so square fitment is the default.

The Solterra Bolt Pattern, and Why It's Different From Every Other Subaru

Every Subaru Solterra runs 5x114.3 with a 60.1mm hub bore. The 5x114.3 pattern matches the rest of the modern larger Subaru lineup (Outback, Ascent, Legacy, recent Impreza and Crosstrek). The 60.1mm hub bore does not. Every other modern Subaru uses a 56.1mm hub bore. The Solterra uses 60.1mm because the underlying chassis is Toyota's e-TNGA EV platform, shared with the Toyota bZ4X. Toyota EV platforms run a 60.1mm centerbore as their spec, and that came across to the Solterra unchanged.

Two other spec differences matter. The Solterra uses LUG BOLTS, not lug nuts on permanent wheel studs. That means when you mount a wheel on the Solterra, you thread the bolt through the wheel into the hub directly. The rest of the Subaru lineup uses studs press-fit into the hub with lug nuts that thread onto the studs. This is the same hardware design Toyota uses on the bZ4X and most German cars use on their cars. The thread pitch on the Solterra is M14x1.25, where the rest of Subaru uses M12x1.25. The thread is bigger. Lug bolts from another Subaru will not work on a Solterra, and lug nuts from another Subaru will not either, because the Solterra has no studs for nuts to thread onto in the first place.

The Solterra and the Toyota bZ4X are the same chassis. Fitment on the two cars is essentially identical. If you cross-reference a Solterra wheel with a bZ4X wheel, the bolt pattern, hub bore, lug bolt thread, and fender geometry match. We catalog them as separate fitment leaves but the dimensions track together. The 5x114.3 pattern is also written as 5x4.5 in imperial (114.3mm = 4.5 inches), but that imperial nickname refers ONLY to 5x114.3, not to 5x115. A wheel listed for 5x115 (Chrysler 300, Dodge Charger LX) will not bolt to a Solterra even though the difference reads as less than a millimeter. Compare across the rest of the Subaru lineup at our Subaru wheels and rims hub.

Why Solterras Run Square Fitment

The Solterra is electric all-wheel-drive on every trim. Two motors, one driving the front axle and one driving the rear, with electronic torque distribution. Like Subaru's symmetric mechanical AWD on the gas lineup, the electric AWD setup requires matched tire diameter at all four corners. A wheel and tire combo that is taller in the rear than the front (or vice versa) creates speed-sensor mismatch that the EV control system reacts to over miles. Square fitment is the engineering constraint on the Solterra. The Element catalog row reflects this: matched front-rear width, matched tire diameter, no staggered option.

The brake package on the Solterra is matched front to rear. There is no performance front-larger-than-rear setup on this car, which keeps the aftermarket window consistent across the build. The Solterra is heavy (EV battery weight is real and the Solterra carries it low in the floor), which moves the conversation toward load-rated tires and wheel designs that handle EV mass without flex. We measure this on the platform directly.

Element Wheels Measured Aftermarket Fitment, Subaru Solterra

Publishable factory and wheel specs across the Solterra run:

  • Solterra (2023 and up): 5x114.3 bolt pattern, 60.1mm hub bore, M14x1.25 lug bolt (not lug nut on stud). Element aftermarket diameter range: 18-22 inch. Aftermarket width: 7.5-8.5 inch square. AWD constraint, matched front-rear brake. Same chassis as Toyota bZ4X.

For your exact aftermarket offset, three options:

  • 1. Use our Year/Make/Model search to see wheels that fit your specific Solterra (each listing shows its own offset).
  • 2. Browse the Solterra wheel gallery for real-life builds with size, offset, and tire spec captions.
  • 3. Call or chat with our team for a free fitment consultation.

Every wheel we recommend is backed by our Fitment Guarantee. If a wheel does not fit, we pick up the wheels and refund 100 percent. No risk to you.

How We Confirm Fitment on Subaru Solterra Wheels

Element Wheels measures fitment on the platforms we sell wheels for, and the Solterra needs the bolt-and-hub spec verified at the wheel because the hardware is different from the rest of Subaru. For the Solterra that means clearance from the wheel to the fender, gap between the back of the wheel and the suspension, brake caliper height, hub bore confirmation (60.1mm, NOT the 56.1mm the rest of Subaru runs), lug seat geometry, lug bolt thread confirmation (M14x1.25, NOT the M12x1.25 the rest of Subaru runs), and confirmation that the wheel and tire match circumference front to rear so the electric AWD system stays happy. The Solterra carries real EV battery weight, so the load rating on the tire and the wheel design's structural rating both matter more than they do on a comparable-size gas crossover. At our fitment facility in Chandler, Arizona, the Element Wheels team measures directly on the physical platforms we support. We don't pull specs from manufacturer sheets the way most retailers do.

Subaru Solterra Wheels and Rims FAQ

What is the bolt pattern on a Subaru Solterra?

5x114.3 across every Subaru Solterra from the 2023 launch through the current model year. Hub bore is 60.1mm. The bolt pattern matches the rest of the modern larger Subaru lineup, but the hub bore does not. Every other modern Subaru uses a 56.1mm hub bore. The Solterra uses 60.1mm because it shares the Toyota e-TNGA EV chassis with the Toyota bZ4X, and Toyota EV platforms run a 60.1mm centerbore.

Will my other Subaru's wheels fit a Solterra?

Not directly. The Solterra uses a different hub bore (60.1mm vs 56.1mm on the rest of Subaru), a different lug thread (M14x1.25 vs M12x1.25), and lug bolts rather than studs and nuts. A wheel from an Outback or Ascent will not bolt onto a Solterra even though both cars share the 5x114.3 bolt pattern. The hardware does not interchange. Treat the Solterra as a Toyota EV platform with a Subaru badge for fitment purposes.

Will Toyota bZ4X wheels fit a Subaru Solterra?

Yes. The Solterra and the Toyota bZ4X are the same chassis. Bolt pattern (5x114.3), hub bore (60.1mm), lug bolt thread (M14x1.25), and fender geometry match. We catalog them as separate fitment leaves but the dimensions track together. A wheel that fits a bZ4X fits a Solterra of the same model year. The two cars are co-developed Toyota and Subaru products built on the same e-TNGA EV platform.

Does the Solterra use lug nuts or lug bolts?

Lug bolts. The Solterra uses lug BOLTS (M14x1.25 thread), not the lug nut on permanent stud setup the rest of Subaru uses. When you mount a wheel, you thread the bolt through the wheel into the hub directly. This is the same hardware design Toyota uses on the bZ4X and most German cars use. If you are coming from another Subaru and the Solterra is your first lug-bolt car, the install routine is slightly different. We can walk you through it if you call.

Are Subaru Solterra wheels staggered?

No, and it cannot be. The Solterra is electric all-wheel-drive with one motor per axle and electronic torque distribution. The setup requires matched tire diameter at all four corners. A staggered setup (wider rear than front, or larger rear diameter than front) creates speed-sensor mismatch that the EV control system reacts to over miles. Square fitment with matched tire diameter is the engineering constraint.

What is the largest wheel I can fit on a Subaru Solterra?

Our measured aftermarket window on the Solterra tops at 22 inch diameter. Going to a 22 inch wheel from the factory 18 or 20 inch means a thinner tire sidewall to keep the rolling diameter close to factory. On an EV the rolling diameter also affects the range estimate the car shows on the dash, so keeping diameter close to factory is more important than it is on a gas car. Most aftermarket Solterra builds land at 19 or 20 inch.

Do aftermarket wheels affect the Solterra's range?

Yes, two ways. Heavier wheels need more energy to spin up, so a heavier aftermarket wheel reduces range. Lighter aftermarket wheels (forged, in particular) help. The other factor is the tire. Factory Solterra tires are tuned for low rolling resistance to maximize range. An aftermarket tire chosen for grip or looks usually trades some rolling resistance away. If range is your top priority, talk to us about lightweight wheel options and a low-rolling-resistance tire selection. Element Forged is one option in that category.

Do I need hub centric rings on a Subaru Solterra?

Hub centric rings only when the aftermarket wheel has a centerbore larger than 60.1mm. Note that this is 60.1mm, NOT the 56.1mm Subaru runs on the gas lineup. If your fitment needs rings, they'll be included with the order.
