Subaru Aftermarket Wheel Fitment
Subaru is one of the highest enthusiast platforms in our customer base, anchored by the WRX, WRX STI, and BR-Z. The Outback, Forester, Crosstrek, and Ascent carry the mainstream wagon and SUV volume. The Impreza, Legacy, Solterra, and the discontinued Tribeca round out the lineup. Subaru fitment splits cleanly along one line. The older platforms and the smaller cars (BR-Z, Crosstrek, Impreza, base WRX through 2014, older Forester through 2013, older Legacy and Outback through 2014, Tribeca) use a 5x100 bolt pattern. The newer and larger platforms (WRX STI from 2005 onward, Forester from 2014, Legacy and Outback from 2015, Ascent, Solterra) use a 5x114.3 pattern. A wheel that fits your 2020 WRX may not fit your 2020 STI even though both wear the WRX badge. Element Wheels has measured fitment across the majority of Subaru platforms in our 10-model catalog so the wheels we show you have been validated for your exact chassis and brake setup. Pick your Subaru model below and you can rest assured the wheels and rims will fit the way you want every time.
Find your Subaru Model
Pick your Subaru model to see wheels and rims that fit. Most Subaru model pages cover multiple generations and call out the 5x100 to 5x114.3 transition by year. The most active aftermarket platforms are at the top, with the complete Subaru lineup below.

The Subaru Bolt Pattern Landscape
Subaru uses two main bolt patterns. The split is the most important fitment fact for Subaru shoppers because the same model name can carry different patterns across generations.
Subaru bolt patterns at a glance
5x100 platforms: BR-Z (all years), base Impreza, base WRX through 2014, older Forester through 2013, older Legacy and Outback through 2014, Crosstrek, Tribeca. The traditional Subaru pattern.
5x114.3 platforms: WRX STI from 2008 onward, Forester from 2014, Legacy from 2015, Outback from 2015, Ascent (all years), Solterra (all years). The newer Subaru pattern aligned with the larger chassis and stronger brakes.
The WRX versus STI split (2008-2014): The standard WRX used 5x100 while the STI used 5x114.3 across this era. A wheel that fits a 2010 WRX will not fit a 2010 STI. Confirm trim before assuming wheels carry over.
The 2015 Subaru WRX moved to 5x114.3 across the entire lineup (no more WRX versus STI split). The transition years and trim splits make Subaru one of the trickier platforms to cross-shop without knowing the exact year and trim.
WRX, STI, and BR-Z Wheel Fitment
The WRX and STI are Subaru's highest volume enthusiast platforms. The bolt pattern history is the most-asked question on these cars. The first generation WRX (2002-2004) used 5x100. The second generation (2005-2007) and third generation (2008-2014) split the WRX (5x100) from the STI (5x114.3). The fourth generation (2015-2021) and current fifth generation (2022 and newer) moved every WRX to 5x114.3. A 17 inch BBS wheel from a 2010 WRX will not fit a 2010 STI or a 2015 WRX.
The BR-Z is its own platform. It is built on the Subaru-Toyota joint sports car chassis (shared with the Toyota 86 and GR86) and uses 5x100. The BR-Z runs lower offsets than most Subaru sedans because the chassis is lower and wider. Aftermarket BR-Z customers often run aggressive staggered fitment for the stanced look or square fitment for track use. Our model page covers both setups.
How Element handles Subaru fitment
Our WRX model page separates the first generation 5x100 cars from the 2005-2014 generation that split WRX (5x100) and STI (5x114.3) from the 2015 and newer unified 5x114.3 cars. The BR-Z is tracked on its own page with the 5x100 sports car fitment window. The Forester, Legacy, and Outback model pages call out the pre-2014 versus post-2014 split where applicable. The Ascent and Solterra are tracked as 5x114.3 platforms from launch.
How We Confirm Fitment
Element Wheels measures fitment on Subaru models we sell wheels for. For each chassis and brake combination we measure clearance from the wheel to the fender, gap between the back of the wheel and any suspension components, brake caliper height, hub protrusion, lug height, and how much room the front wheel has when turning lock to lock. We do this on the car, not from a spec sheet.
That measurement work covers the most active Subaru platforms across the catalog. The WRX generations are tracked separately because of the bolt pattern transition. The STI is tracked separately from the base WRX on 2005-2014 cars because the patterns differ. The Forester, Legacy, and Outback are tracked across the 5x100 to 5x114.3 transition years. The BR-Z is tracked separately because it is a sports car platform with its own offset window. Our fitment recommendations come from these direct measurements rather than manufacturer spec sheets.
Every wheel we recommend is backed by our Fitment Guarantee. If a wheel does not fit, we pick up the wheels and refund 100 percent. No risk to you.
Subaru Wheel and Rim FAQ
What is the most popular Subaru aftermarket platform?
The WRX and STI are among our highest volume Subaru platforms, followed by the BR-Z. The Forester, Outback, Crosstrek, and Impreza are among the highest volume on the mainstream side. The Ascent and Solterra are growing as the platforms mature.
What is the Subaru bolt pattern?
It depends on the model and year. The BR-Z, base Impreza, base WRX through 2014, older Forester, older Legacy, older Outback, and Crosstrek use 5x100. The WRX STI (2005 and newer), modern Forester (2014 and newer), modern Legacy and Outback (2015 and newer), Ascent, and Solterra use 5x114.3.
Will my 2010 WRX wheels fit a 2010 STI?
No. From 2008 through 2014, the WRX used 5x100 and the STI used 5x114.3. The bolt patterns are different. The wheels do not bolt across. The 2015 and newer WRX and STI both use 5x114.3, so wheels cross between trims from 2015 onward.
Will BR-Z wheels fit a Toyota GR86?
Yes. The BR-Z, Toyota 86, and Toyota GR86 are the same chassis with different badges. All three use 5x100 with the same offset window and brake clearance. Wheels cross cleanly between the three cars.
Are Subaru wheels staggered?
Subaru runs square fitment from the factory across the entire lineup because of the symmetrical all wheel drive system. Aftermarket BR-Z builds sometimes run staggered as a styling choice, but the WRX, STI, Forester, Outback, and the rest of the lineup do not stagger. Square fitment is required for the AWD drivetrain to function correctly on the rest of the lineup.
How do I find wheels for my specific Subaru?
Pick your Subaru model from the list above. Each model page covers the generations we have measured, with bolt pattern, offset window, and fitment specifics for each year range and trim. If you are not sure which generation or trim you have, our team can identify your exact configuration from your VIN.
