Suzuki XL-7 Aftermarket Wheel Fitment

This is the parent hub for the Suzuki XL-7 sold in the US between 2002 and 2009. Element Wheels measures fitment across both generations of the XL-7, and the two generations are mechanically different vehicles. The 2002-2006 XL-7 is a body-on-frame SUV built on the Suzuki Grand Vitara platform with a 5x139.7 bolt pattern and a large 108.1mm hub bore. The 2007-2009 XL-7 is a unibody crossover built on the GM Theta platform shared with the Chevrolet Equinox, Saturn Vue, and Pontiac Torrent, and it runs 5x115 with a 70.3mm hub bore. Bolt pattern, hub bore, and lug thread pitch all change at the 2006-2007 cutover. A wheel from a 2002-2006 XL-7 will not bolt onto a 2007-2009 XL-7, and vice versa. Pick your generation below for the fitment specs that apply to your specific XL-7.

Both generations were sold with rear-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive variants (the 1st generation badged as 2WD/4WD, the 2nd generation as front-drive/AWD). The fitment box (bolt pattern, hub bore, diameter range, width range) does not change with drivetrain on the XL-7, so the same wheel that fits a 2WD or front-drive XL-7 fits the all-wheel-drive of the same year. Compare across the rest of the Suzuki lineup at our Suzuki wheels and rims hub.

Find Your Suzuki XL-7 Generation

Pick your year range to see wheels and rims that fit your specific XL-7. The platform change at the 2006-2007 cutover is the most important fitment fact on this hub. Both generations run matched front-rear width with no staggered option from the factory.

The Suzuki XL-7 Bolt Pattern, and the 2007 Switch

The 2002-2006 XL-7 was a body-on-frame SUV that ran 5x139.7 with a 108.1mm hub bore. 5x139.7 is also written as 5x5.5 in imperial. That nickname refers ONLY to 5x139.7 (139.7mm = 5.5 inches) and is correct as a synonym for this generation. The 108.1mm hub bore is the same large hub used on the same-era Suzuki Grand Vitara (1999-2005 body-on-frame) and the Suzuki Vitara and Sidekick. Lug count is five per corner and thread pitch is M12x1.25 with a tapered lug seat.

The 2007-2009 XL-7 was redesigned as a unibody crossover and the fitment box changed completely. Bolt pattern moved to 5x115 with a 70.3mm hub bore. Thread pitch changed too, from M12x1.25 on the 1st generation to M12x1.5 on the 2nd generation. Important callout: 5x115 and 5x114.3 are NOT the same pattern. A wheel listed as 5x114.3 (the mainstream Toyota and Suzuki 5x114.3 / 60.1mm small-car spec) will not bolt onto a 2007-2009 XL-7 even though the millimeter difference looks small. Treat the 2006 to 2007 transition as a full reset: bolt pattern, hub bore, and lug thread pitch all change.

Why the XL-7 Bolt Pattern Changed Between Generations

The 1st generation XL-7 was Suzuki's body-on-frame three-row SUV, sold initially as the Grand Vitara XL-7 and then simply as XL-7. It carried the same platform and wheel hardware as the related 1999-2005 Grand Vitara and the Suzuki Vitara and Sidekick: 5x139.7 / 108.1mm with M12x1.25 lugs. The body-on-frame layout, the live rear axle, and the part-time four-wheel-drive system all reinforced a truck-spec wheel hardware package.

The 2nd generation XL-7 is a completely different vehicle despite the shared name. Suzuki partnered with General Motors and the 2007-2009 XL-7 was built at the CAMI Automotive plant in Ontario, Canada on the GM Theta platform. Same factory, same platform, same wheel hardware as the 2005-2009 Chevrolet Equinox (1st generation), the 2008-2010 Saturn Vue (2nd generation, as the Theta-platform Vue), and the 2006-2009 Pontiac Torrent. That meant 5x115 / 70.3mm with M12x1.5 lugs and a unibody chassis with all-wheel-drive available. The 2007-2009 XL-7 is mechanically much closer to a Chevy Equinox than to the 1st generation XL-7.

Cross-shop implication. If you have a 2002-2006 XL-7, wheels that fit the 1999-2005 Suzuki Grand Vitara (body-on-frame) or a same-era Suzuki Vitara at the same diameter and width will share lug math and hub centering (all run 5x139.7 / 108.1mm). If you have a 2007-2009 XL-7, wheels that fit a 2005-2009 Chevrolet Equinox, a 2008-2010 Saturn Vue, or a 2006-2009 Pontiac Torrent will share lug math and hub centering (all run 5x115 / 70.3mm). Width and offset still need to be checked against the XL-7 body specifically.

Element Wheels Measured Aftermarket Fitment, Suzuki XL-7

Publishable factory and wheel specs across the XL-7 lineup:

  • XL-7, 1st generation (2002-2006): 5x139.7 bolt pattern, 108.1mm hub bore, M12x1.25 thread pitch, tapered lug seat. Element aftermarket diameter range: 16-20 inch. Width range: 6.5-8.5 inch front and rear. Square setup. Front and rear brake matched.
  • XL-7, 2nd generation (2007-2009): 5x115 bolt pattern, 70.3mm hub bore, M12x1.5 thread pitch. Element aftermarket diameter range: 16-20 inch. Width range: 6.5-8.5 inch front and rear. Square setup. Front and rear brake matched.

For your exact aftermarket offset, three options:

  • 1. Use our Year/Make/Model search to see wheels that fit your specific XL-7 (each listing shows its own offset).
  • 2. Browse the XL-7 wheel gallery for real-life builds with size, offset, and tire spec captions.
  • 3. Call or chat with our team for a free fitment consultation.

Every wheel we recommend is backed by our Fitment Guarantee. If a wheel does not fit, we pick up the wheels and refund 100 percent. No risk to you.

How We Confirm Fitment on Suzuki XL-7 Wheels

Element Wheels measures fitment on the platforms we sell wheels for, including the XL-7 across both generations. For the XL-7 that means clearance from the wheel to the fender, gap between the back of the wheel and the suspension and frame, brake caliper height, hub bore confirmation (108.1mm on the 1st generation, 70.3mm on the 2nd generation), and turning clearance with the wheel and tire installed. At our fitment facility in Chandler, Arizona, the Element Wheels team measures directly on the physical platforms we support. We do not pull specs from manufacturer sheets the way most retailers do. That measurement work is what produced the 16-20 inch range on both generations along with the 6.5-8.5 inch width window that keeps the wheels off the fender and frame at the upper diameter end.

Suzuki XL-7 Wheels and Rims FAQ

What is the bolt pattern on a Suzuki XL-7?

It depends on the generation. The 1st generation XL-7 (2002-2006) is a body-on-frame SUV that uses 5x139.7 with a 108.1mm hub bore and M12x1.25 lugs. The 2nd generation XL-7 (2007-2009) is a GM Theta-platform crossover that uses 5x115 with a 70.3mm hub bore and M12x1.5 lugs. Confirm your model year before buying because the two generations do NOT share wheels.

Do 1st generation XL-7 wheels fit a 2nd generation XL-7?

No. The 1st generation XL-7 is 5x139.7 / 108.1mm with M12x1.25 lugs. The 2nd generation XL-7 is 5x115 / 70.3mm with M12x1.5 lugs. Bolt pattern, hub bore, and thread pitch all change at the generation break. The two are mechanically different vehicles that share only the name. This is the most common cross-shopping mistake on the XL-7.

Will Chevy Equinox or Pontiac Torrent wheels fit a 2nd generation XL-7?

Yes. The 2007-2009 XL-7 was built on the GM Theta platform at the CAMI plant in Ontario, Canada alongside the 2005-2009 Chevrolet Equinox, the 2006-2009 Pontiac Torrent, and the 2008-2010 Saturn Vue (Theta-platform Vue). All four run 5x115 / 70.3mm with M12x1.5 lugs and share lug math and hub centering. Width and offset still need to be confirmed against the XL-7 body specifically.

Will 1999-2005 Suzuki Grand Vitara wheels fit a 1st generation XL-7?

Yes for lug math and hub centering. The 1st generation XL-7 (2002-2006) and the 1st generation Grand Vitara (1999-2005, body-on-frame) share the Suzuki body-on-frame platform and the same wheel hardware: 5x139.7 / 108.1mm / M12x1.25. Width and offset still need to be confirmed against the XL-7 body. The 2006-2013 Grand Vitara (unibody) is a different platform and does NOT share wheels with the 1st generation XL-7.

How do I tell which XL-7 generation I have?

By model year and body style. A 2002-2006 XL-7 is the 1st generation, body-on-frame SUV with a live rear axle (drives more like a truck). A 2007-2009 XL-7 is the 2nd generation, unibody crossover built on the GM Theta platform (drives more like a car). The 2nd generation is also longer and lower than the 1st. If you are still not sure, our team can identify your generation from your VIN.

Can I run staggered wheels on a Suzuki XL-7?

We recommend square on both generations of the XL-7. Both shipped square from the factory and our measured aftermarket window keeps front and rear width matched at 6.5-8.5 inch. Both generations were also available with all-wheel-drive, and staggered fitment on an all-wheel-drive XL-7 would create unequal tire circumference front to rear that the drivetrain is not designed to handle long-term.

What is the largest wheel I can fit on a Suzuki XL-7?

Our measured aftermarket window tops at 20 inch on both generations. The full range is 16-20 inch diameter and 6.5-8.5 inch width on both. Above 20 inch the tire sidewall gets too thin for a mid-size SUV or crossover where ride quality and load capacity both matter.

Do I need hub centric rings on a Suzuki XL-7?

Hub centric rings only when the aftermarket wheel has a centerbore larger than the XL-7's hub bore (108.1mm on the 1st generation, 70.3mm on the 2nd generation). The 1st generation hub bore is unusually large for a passenger vehicle, so rings are common when running modern aftermarket wheels on a 1st gen XL-7. If your fitment needs rings, they'll be included with the order.

Get Suzuki XL-7 Wheels Right the First Time

Pick your generation above to see wheels and rims that fit. We measure on both XL-7 generations directly, confirm the bolt pattern (5x139.7 on the 1st gen, 5x115 on the 2nd gen), hub bore, and thread pitch on every listing, and keep the aftermarket window honest about ride quality and brake clearance. Find your fit and start enjoying your build sooner.
