Toyota GR86 Aftermarket Wheel Fitment
The Toyota GR86 is Toyota's rear-drive naturally-aspirated sport coupe, currently produced and on sale since the 2022 model year. The GR86 is the third Toyota nameplate on this chassis: the Scion FR-S launched the platform in 2013, the car became the Toyota 86 in 2017 when Scion was retired, and the GR86 took over the nameplate in 2022 alongside the 2nd generation Subaru BR-Z. The GR86 and the Subaru BR-Z are the same chassis (Toyota and Subaru co-developed the platform, Subaru builds the cars in Japan); Element catalogs them as separate vehicle pages but the fitment math is essentially identical. Across the GR86 lineup, our catalog shows a 5x100 bolt pattern with a 56.1mm hub bore and M12x1.25 lug nuts on permanent wheel studs. That spec holds across both the Base brake trim (2022 and up) and the Brembo brake trim (2025 and up). Find your trim below and the wheel and rim recommendations follow.
Find Your Toyota GR86 Trim
Pick your trim to see wheels and rims that fit your specific GR86. Bolt pattern (5x100), hub bore (56.1mm), thread pitch (M12x1.25), and the diameter and width windows are constant across the lineup. The Brembo brake variant on the 2025 and up GR86 carries a larger front brake than the Base trim, so inner-barrel clearance behind the front wheel face matters more on the Brembo car.
The Toyota GR86 Bolt Pattern
Every Toyota GR86 (2022 and up) uses a 5x100 bolt pattern with a 56.1mm hub bore. Lug count is five, thread pitch is M12x1.25 on permanent wheel studs. The same spec also applied to the predecessor Toyota 86 (2017-2020) and Scion FR-S (2013-2016), and to the Subaru BR-Z across both generations. Toyota's standard car bolt pattern is 5x114.3 (Camry, Corolla, Highlander, RAV4, and most of the lineup), but the GR86 is built on Subaru hardware and carries the Subaru spec instead. That distinction matters because Toyota wheels listed for a Camry or a Corolla at 5x114.3 / 60.1mm will NOT fit a GR86.
Critical spec callout: the GR86 lug-nut thread pitch is M12x1.25, NOT M12x1.5. Most Toyota cars use M12x1.5 thread pitch. The GR86 carries the Subaru smaller pitch instead because the platform is Subaru-engineered. M12x1.5 lug nuts will physically thread onto a GR86 stud but the engagement will be loose and not safe at torque. Confirm lug nuts are M12x1.25 before mounting aftermarket wheels. Compare across the rest of the Toyota lineup at our Toyota wheels and rims hub.
GR86 and Subaru BR-Z Same-Chassis, and How Brembo Brakes Affect Fitment
The Toyota GR86 and the Subaru BR-Z are the same chassis. Toyota and Subaru co-developed the platform; Subaru builds the cars in Japan. The Scion FR-S launched the platform in 2013, the car became the Toyota 86 in 2017 when Scion was retired, and the GR86 took over from the 86 in 2022 alongside the 2nd generation BR-Z (ZD8). Bolt pattern, hub bore, brake hardware, suspension geometry, and the fitment window are essentially identical across all three Toyota-side nameplates and the corresponding Subaru BR-Z of the same generation. Element catalogs them as separate vehicle pages because customers search by car name, but the wheels cross. If a wheel fits a 2024 Subaru BR-Z, it also fits a 2024 GR86.
Brake variation matters within the GR86 lineup. The Base brake trim (2022 and up) carries a matched front-and-rear caliper package. The Brembo trim (2025 and up) steps up to a larger front caliper while keeping the same rear caliper. The Brembo car needs a slightly closer look at inner-barrel clearance behind the front spokes, and we measure this separately. The diameter window runs 17 to 20 inch on the GR86. The Subaru BR-Z 1st gen ZC6 (2013-2020) topped at 19 inch and the 2nd gen ZD8 added the 20 inch option; the GR86 nameplate inherits the 20 inch option from launch.
Element Wheels Measured Aftermarket Fitment, Toyota GR86
Publishable factory and wheel specs across the GR86 lineup:
- GR86 Base Brakes (2022 and Up): 5x100 bolt pattern, 56.1mm hub bore, M12x1.25 thread pitch. Element aftermarket diameter range: 17-20 inch. Aftermarket width: 7.5-8.5 inch front, 8.5-9.5 inch rear. Square-leaning fitment with optional rear stagger.
- GR86 Brembo Brakes (2025 and Up): 5x100 bolt pattern, 56.1mm hub bore, M12x1.25 thread pitch. Element aftermarket diameter range: 17-20 inch. Aftermarket width: 7.5-8.5 inch front, 8.5-9.5 inch rear. Front Brembo caliper larger than rear, requires inner-barrel clearance check on the front wheel face.
For your exact aftermarket offset, three options:
- 1. Use our Year/Make/Model search to see wheels that fit your specific GR86 (each listing shows its own offset).
- 2. Browse the GR86 wheel gallery for real-life builds with size, offset, and tire spec captions.
- 3. Call or chat with our team for a free fitment consultation.
Every wheel we recommend is backed by our Fitment Guarantee. If a wheel does not fit, we pick up the wheels and refund 100 percent. No risk to you.
How We Confirm Fitment on Toyota GR86 Wheels
Element Wheels measures fitment on the GR86 directly, across both Base and Brembo brake trims and across the related Subaru BR-Z (ZD8) since the chassis is the same. For the GR86 that means clearance from the wheel to the fender on both axles, gap between the back of the wheel and the rear-drive suspension, brake caliper height (front and rear, with the larger front Brembo on the Brembo trim), hub bore confirmation to the 56.1mm Subaru hub, and lug nut thread engagement at M12x1.25 (NOT M12x1.5). At our fitment facility in Chandler, Arizona, the Element Wheels team measures directly on the physical platforms we support. We don't pull specs from manufacturer sheets the way most retailers do.
Toyota GR86 Wheels and Rims FAQ
What is the bolt pattern on a Toyota GR86?
Every Toyota GR86 (2022 and up) uses 5x100 with a 56.1mm hub bore. Lug count is five and the thread pitch is M12x1.25 on permanent wheel studs. The same spec applied to the predecessor Toyota 86 (2017-2020) and Scion FR-S (2013-2016). The bolt pattern is Subaru-spec because the GR86 is built on Subaru hardware, not Toyota's standard 5x114.3 car spec.
Is the GR86 the same chassis as the Subaru BR-Z?
Yes. The Toyota GR86 and the Subaru BR-Z are the same chassis. Toyota and Subaru co-developed the platform; Subaru builds the cars in Japan. The Toyota-side nameplate was the Scion FR-S in 2013-2016, then the Toyota 86 in 2017-2020, then the GR86 from 2022 forward (one model-year gap in 2021 during the platform changeover from 1st gen to 2nd gen). Bolt pattern, hub bore, brake hardware, suspension geometry, and fitment window are essentially identical between the GR86 and the matching-year BR-Z. A wheel that fits a 2024 BR-Z also fits a 2024 GR86.
Will Toyota Camry or Corolla wheels fit a GR86?
No. The Camry, Corolla, RAV4, and most of the Toyota lineup use 5x114.3 with a 60.1mm hub bore and M12x1.5 lug-nut thread pitch. The GR86 uses 5x100 with a 56.1mm hub bore and M12x1.25 thread pitch. The bolt patterns are different (5x100 versus 5x114.3, about 14.3mm apart) and the wheels do not cross between the GR86 and the rest of the Toyota car lineup.
What is the lug nut thread pitch on a GR86?
M12x1.25. This is the Subaru spec, not the Toyota M12x1.5 standard. The GR86 inherits the Subaru thread pitch because the car is built on Subaru hardware. M12x1.5 lug nuts will NOT thread onto M12x1.25 studs. The threads are incompatible. Different pitch. Confirm lug nuts are M12x1.25 before mounting aftermarket wheels.
Does the Brembo brake trim need different wheels than the Base GR86?
The Brembo trim (2025 and up) runs the same 5x100 bolt pattern and 56.1mm hub bore as the Base GR86, but the front caliper is meaningfully larger. The wheel face has to clear that bigger front caliper, so inner-barrel clearance matters more on the Brembo car. The bolt-on fitment math is the same; the wheel design (spoke geometry, inner-barrel shape) needs to clear the larger front brake.
Can I run staggered wheels on a GR86?
Optional. The GR86 is rear-wheel-drive, so the rear axle does the driving and a wider rear wheel is mechanically fine. Element's measured window runs 7.5-8.5 inch front and 8.5-9.5 inch rear, which gives builders the option to step up to a wider rear or run square on the smaller width. Most GR86 builds we see go square at 8.5 inch wide front and rear for tire-rotation simplicity, but staggered setups work and the fitment is supported.
What is the largest wheel I can fit on a GR86?
Our measured aftermarket window tops at 20 inch on the GR86. Most aftermarket GR86 builds land at 17 or 18 inch to keep the sidewall thick enough for track or backroad work. 19 and 20 inch setups exist and look the part, but the sidewall is thin enough that ride quality drops sharply on a lightweight sport coupe meant for handling.
Do I need hub centric rings on a Toyota GR86?
Hub centric rings only when the aftermarket wheel has a centerbore larger than 56.1mm. If your fitment needs rings, they'll be included with the order.
