Audi RS3 Aftermarket Wheel Fitment
The Audi RS3 is the full performance version of the A3, sitting above the warm S3 in the A3 family. It runs the turbocharged 2.5 liter five cylinder unique to the RS3 in the Audi lineup, mated to Quattro all wheel drive. Element Wheels catalogs the modern US RS3 across two generations: 8V (2017-2020) and the current 8Y (2022 and up). The RS3 sits on the same chassis as the A3 and the S3 within each generation, sharing the 5x112 bolt pattern, 57.1mm hub bore, and M14x1.5 lug bolts. What sets the RS3 apart from those siblings is the larger Brembo front brake package and, on the current 8Y, a factory staggered fitment with a much lower front offset than the square A3 or S3. The 8Y RS3 is one of the few Audi compacts in the lineup with a true factory staggered setup, and the front wheel poke that comes with it is part of the look. Pick your generation below for the fitment specs.
Find Your Audi RS3 Generation
Pick your chassis to see wheels and rims that fit your specific RS3. Bolt pattern is 5x112 across every modern generation. Centerbore is 57.1mm on every modern RS3. The big change between the 8V and the 8Y is the factory fitment. The 8V RS3 ran a square (non staggered) setup with a conservative offset. The 8Y RS3 ships with a factory staggered fitment with a much lower front offset and a slightly wider front wheel, which puts the front face well outside the line the A3 or S3 fender sits at.
The Audi RS3 Bolt Pattern
Every modern RS3 uses 5x112 with M14x1.5 lug bolts. Audi runs bolts on its sedans, not studs and nuts the way most American and Asian platforms do. The lug bolt threads directly into the hub, the wheel sits between the head of the bolt and the hub face, and there is no lug stud to align the wheel before tightening. This makes a hub centric fit more important on an RS3 than on a stud and nut car. The bolt pattern has stayed 5x112 across the 8V (2017-2020) and the current 8Y (2022 and up). The centerbore is 57.1mm on every modern RS3. That matches the A3 and S3 of the same chassis. The RS3 hub bore does not step up to 66.56mm the way the B8 and newer A4 and the larger Audi platforms do.
The 5x112 bolt pattern is shared with the rest of the modern Audi sedan family (A4, A5, A6, A7, A8) and the VW Group passenger car siblings (Golf R, GTI on the same MQB platform). It is NOT the same as the 5x130 pattern Audi used on the first generation Q7 SUV. The RS3's 5x112 / 57.1mm spec matches the A3 and S3 in terms of bolt up, but the RS3 brake package and (on the 8Y) the factory staggered fitment make the practical offset window tighter and the front wheel face sit out past where an A3 or S3 wheel would sit. Compare against the rest of the Audi lineup at our Audi wheels and rims hub.
Why the RS3 Brake Package and Factory Stagger Determine Wheel Fit
The RS3 ships with the larger Brembo front brake package, well beyond the standard A3 and the warm S3 of the same chassis. That is the normal configuration on a full performance compact, where the front brake handles the bulk of the braking force and gets the bigger caliper and rotor. Carbon ceramic brakes are offered as an option on the RS3 in higher trims and tighten the offset window further when fitted. The practical consequence for wheels is that the RS3 minimum aftermarket diameter sits at 19 inch (vs 17 inch on the A3 and 18 inch on the S3) and the offset window is tighter because the caliper face sits closer to the back of the wheel. Quattro AWD is standard on every RS3. Drivetrain is not a fitment variable on the RS3 because every car is AWD.
The big change between the 8V and the 8Y is the factory fitment. The 8V RS3 ran a square (non staggered) setup. The current 8Y RS3 ships with a factory staggered fitment with a much lower front offset and a slightly wider front wheel than rear. That is uncommon on a Quattro Audi (which normally runs square because the AWD system benefits from matching sizes at every corner) and it is the most distinctive RS3 fitment fact. The lower front offset on the 8Y pushes the front wheel face well past the line the A3 or S3 fender sits at. That is the look the factory is building. An A3 or S3 wheel will bolt onto an 8Y RS3 but will sit tucked compared to the factory RS3 wheel.
Element Wheels Measured Aftermarket Fitment, Audi RS3
Publishable factory and wheel specs across the modern RS3 generations:
- 8V RS3 (2017-2020): 5x112 bolt pattern, 57.1mm hub bore, M14x1.5 lug bolts. Element aftermarket diameter range: 19 to 20 inch. Aftermarket width range: 8 to 9 inch. Square fitment. Larger Brembo front brake than the 8V A3 and 8V S3.
- 8Y RS3 (2022 and up): 5x112 bolt pattern, 57.1mm hub bore, M14x1.5 lug bolts. Element aftermarket diameter range: 19 to 20 inch. Front aftermarket width range: 8 to 9.5 inch. Rear aftermarket width range: 8 to 9 inch. FACTORY STAGGERED fitment with a much lower front offset window than the 8V (front sits well past the line the A3 or S3 fender sits at). Larger Brembo front brake.
Offset windows are tightly controlled on the RS3 because of the larger Brembo brake package and (on the 8Y) the wider front track. For your exact aftermarket offset, three options:
- 1. Use our Year/Make/Model search to see wheels that fit your specific RS3 (each listing shows its own offset).
- 2. Browse the RS3 wheel gallery for real-life builds with size, offset, and tire spec captions.
- 3. Call or chat with our team for a free fitment consultation.
How We Confirm Fitment on Audi RS3 Wheels
Element Wheels measures fitment on the platforms we sell wheels for, including every modern RS3 generation. For the RS3 that means clearance from the wheel to the fender (which on the 8Y sits well outside the A3 fender line at the front), gap between the back of the wheel and the suspension, brake caliper height for the larger Brembo front package, hub bore confirmation at 57.1mm, lug bolt seat depth, and the staggered fitment offset window on the 8Y. At our fitment facility in Chandler, Arizona, the Element Wheels team measures directly on the physical platforms we support. We don't pull specs from manufacturer sheets the way most retailers do.
Every wheel we recommend is backed by our Fitment Guarantee. If a wheel does not fit, we pick up the wheels and refund 100 percent. No risk to you.
Audi RS3 Wheels and Rims FAQ
What is the bolt pattern on an Audi RS3?
Every modern RS3 uses 5x112 with M14x1.5 lug bolts. The pattern has stayed the same across the 8V (2017-2020) and the current 8Y (2022 and up). The same 5x112 pattern is shared with the A3 and S3 of the same chassis, the rest of the modern Audi sedan family (A4, A5, A6, A7, A8), and the VW Group passenger car siblings on the MQB platform. Audi runs lug bolts, not studs and nuts, on the RS3.
What is the centerbore on an Audi RS3?
57.1mm on every modern RS3, including the 8V and 8Y. The RS3 hub bore matches the A3 and S3 of the same chassis. It does not step up to the larger 66.56mm hub used on the B8 and newer A4 and the larger Audi platforms. A wheel bored to 66.56mm fits the RS3 bolt pattern but will not sit hub centric without rings.
Is the 8Y RS3 really staggered from the factory?
Yes. The 8Y RS3 (2022 and up) ships with a factory staggered fitment with a slightly wider front wheel and a much lower front offset than rear. That is uncommon on a Quattro Audi (which normally runs square because the AWD system benefits from matching sizes at every corner) and it is the most distinctive RS3 fitment fact. The lower front offset pushes the front wheel face well past the line the A3 or S3 fender sits at. That is the look the factory is building. The earlier 8V RS3 (2017-2020) was square with a more conservative offset window.
Will A3 or S3 wheels fit my RS3?
Same chassis means same bolt pattern (5x112), same hub bore (57.1mm), and same M14x1.5 lug bolts. The wheels bolt across. What does not always cross is brake clearance and offset. The RS3 ships with a larger Brembo brake package than the standard A3 or the warm S3, so an A3 wheel with a deeper offset can sit too close to the RS3 front caliper. On the 8Y RS3 specifically, an A3 or S3 wheel will bolt up and clear but will sit tucked compared to the factory RS3 wheel because the RS3 runs a much lower front offset than the A3 or S3 of the same chassis. For your exact aftermarket offset, use our Year/Make/Model search, browse the RS3 wheel gallery for real-life builds, or contact our team for a free fitment consultation.
Are RS3 brakes really bigger than S3 brakes?
Yes. The RS3 ships with a larger Brembo brake package than the S3 (and significantly larger than the standard A3). Front-larger-than-rear is the normal configuration on a performance compact because the front brake handles the bulk of the braking force. The larger front rotor and caliper on the RS3 push the practical minimum aftermarket wheel diameter up to 19 inch. Carbon ceramic brakes are offered as an option on the RS3 in higher trims and tighten the offset window further when fitted.
Does the five cylinder engine change anything about wheel fitment?
No, not directly. The turbocharged 2.5 liter five cylinder is unique to the RS3 in the modern Audi lineup and gives the car its signature soundtrack, but the engine sits inside the same engine bay as the four cylinder A3 and S3 of the same chassis. The wheel and brake packages are what set the RS3 apart, not the powertrain itself. The same 5x112 bolt pattern, 57.1mm hub bore, M14x1.5 lug bolts, and Quattro AWD square-or-staggered fitment determine the wheel choice.
What is the largest wheel I can fit on an Audi RS3?
20 inch is the top of our measured aftermarket window on every modern RS3. 19 inch is the practical floor because of the larger Brembo brake clearance. 19 to 20 inch is where most aftermarket builds land. Above 20 inch, the tire sidewall thins enough that ride quality drops noticeably on a daily driven performance compact.
Do I need hub centric rings on an Audi RS3?
Hub centric rings only when the aftermarket wheel has a centerbore larger than 57.1mm. If your fitment needs rings, they'll be included with the order.
