The Audi RS3 Bolt Pattern

Every modern RS3 uses 5x112 with M14x1.5 lug bolts. Audi runs bolts on its sedans, not studs and nuts the way most American and Asian platforms do. The lug bolt threads directly into the hub, the wheel sits between the head of the bolt and the hub face, and there is no lug stud to align the wheel before tightening. This makes a hub centric fit more important on an RS3 than on a stud and nut car. The bolt pattern has stayed 5x112 across the 8V (2017-2020) and the current 8Y (2022 and up). The centerbore is 57.1mm on every modern RS3. That matches the A3 and S3 of the same chassis. The RS3 hub bore does not step up to 66.56mm the way the B8 and newer A4 and the larger Audi platforms do.

The 5x112 bolt pattern is shared with the rest of the modern Audi sedan family (A4, A5, A6, A7, A8) and the VW Group passenger car siblings (Golf R, GTI on the same MQB platform). It is NOT the same as the 5x130 pattern Audi used on the first generation Q7 SUV. The RS3's 5x112 / 57.1mm spec matches the A3 and S3 in terms of bolt up, but the RS3 brake package and (on the 8Y) the factory staggered fitment make the practical offset window tighter and the front wheel face sit out past where an A3 or S3 wheel would sit. Why the RS3 Brake Package and Factory Stagger Determine Wheel Fit

The RS3 ships with the larger Brembo front brake package, well beyond the standard A3 and the warm S3 of the same chassis. That is the normal configuration on a full performance compact, where the front brake handles the bulk of the braking force and gets the bigger caliper and rotor. Carbon ceramic brakes are offered as an option on the RS3 in higher trims and tighten the offset window further when fitted. The practical consequence for wheels is that the RS3 minimum aftermarket diameter sits at 19 inch (vs 17 inch on the A3 and 18 inch on the S3) and the offset window is tighter because the caliper face sits closer to the back of the wheel. Quattro AWD is standard on every RS3. Drivetrain is not a fitment variable on the RS3 because every car is AWD.

The big change between the 8V and the 8Y is the factory fitment. The 8V RS3 ran a square (non staggered) setup. The current 8Y RS3 ships with a factory staggered fitment with a much lower front offset and a slightly wider front wheel than rear. That is uncommon on a Quattro Audi (which normally runs square because the AWD system benefits from matching sizes at every corner) and it is the most distinctive RS3 fitment fact. The lower front offset on the 8Y pushes the front wheel face well past the line the A3 or S3 fender sits at. That is the look the factory is building. An A3 or S3 wheel will bolt onto an 8Y RS3 but will sit tucked compared to the factory RS3 wheel.
