McLaren 650S Aftermarket Wheel Fitment

The 2014-2016 McLaren 650S is McLaren's Super Series mid-engine supercar, the direct evolution of the 12C and the immediate predecessor to the 720S. It was built around the carbon fiber MonoCell tub and powered by an M838T twin-turbocharged 3.8-liter V8 producing 641 horsepower in standard tune. The 650S family includes the 650S Coupe, the 650S Spider, and the limited-run 650S Can-Am Edition. Every 650S uses a 5x112 bolt pattern with a 57.1mm hub bore and M14x1.5 lug bolts. The 650S is a must-staggered car from the factory with a wider rear wheel and tire than the front. The front brake package is larger than the rear, with carbon ceramic Brembos that came standard. Element Wheels measures 650S fitment directly on the car at our fitment facility in Chandler, Arizona, including the lighter forged options shipped on the 650S Spider and Can-Am. Pick your variant below for wheels and rims fit-tested on the 650S.

Find Your McLaren 650S Variant

Every 650S Coupe, 650S Spider, and 650S Can-Am shares the same bolt pattern, hub bore, and staggered front-vs-rear geometry. All three variants ride on the same MonoCell carbon tub with the same wheel mounting interface, the same brake hardware family, and the same suspension geometry, so a wheel that fits one 650S will fit any 650S on the same fitment math.

The McLaren 650S Bolt Pattern and Lug Bolts

Every 2014-2016 McLaren 650S uses a 5x112 bolt pattern with a 57.1mm hub bore. The spec is identical across the 650S Coupe, the 650S Spider, and the 650S Can-Am, and it matches the rest of the McLaren lineup including the 12C, the 570S, the 570GT, the 600LT, the 675LT, the 720S, the 765LT, and the 750S. The 5x112 pattern is the same VW Group passenger-car spec used on most modern Audi sedans, the first-generation Audi R8, the Lamborghini Gallardo, and the 5-lug Lamborghini Huracan. McLaren uses the same lug count and the same thread spec, but the chassis, suspension, and brake hardware are McLaren-specific. A wheel built for a 5x112 Audi or Lamborghini will not necessarily clear the 650S front brake caliper, which is why we measure on the McLaren platform directly.

The 650S mounts wheels with lug bolts rather than lug nuts on studs. A lug bolt is a single fastener that threads directly into the hub, so the wheel is held to the hub by the bolt itself rather than dropped onto pre-installed studs. The thread spec on the 650S is M14x1.5. There is no stud to align the wheel before tightening, so the hub-centric fit on the 57.1mm bore and the correct bolt length both matter more on a 650S than on a stud-and-nut car. The wrong bolt length is the most common 650S installation mistake we see, so we ship the correct bolts with every McLaren 650S wheel order. Compare across the rest of the McLaren lineup at our McLaren wheels and rims hub.

Why Every McLaren 650S Runs Staggered Fitment

The 650S is a mid-engine, rear-drive McLaren with a 3.8-liter twin-turbocharged V8 mounted behind the cabin. The rear tires put down the power and the rear track is wider than the front, so McLaren specs a wider rear wheel and tire on every 650S. From the factory the 650S ran a 19x8.5 front and a 20x11 rear, paired with 235/35R19 fronts and 305/30R20 rears. The 650S Can-Am followed the same staggered approach with lighter forged wheels and a track-focused tire package. Element's aftermarket window on the 650S covers 19 to 20 inch diameter, with a 9 inch front width and 11 to 12 inch rear widths. We do not recommend square setups on a 650S. The chassis is engineered around the staggered geometry and the rear arches are physically wider than the fronts.

The 650S has a larger front brake package than rear. That is normal on a performance car of this class, and on the 650S the difference is especially pronounced because every 650S shipped with carbon ceramic Brembos as standard equipment. The front carbon ceramic rotor sits at 394mm with a 6-piston caliper, while the rear runs a 380mm rotor with a 4-piston caliper. The front wheel needs more inner-barrel clearance for the larger front caliper, which is one of the variables we measure on the 650S directly rather than estimating from factory spec sheets. This is also why a wheel built for the rear of a 650S will often not clear the front caliper even when the bolt pattern and offset numbers look workable on paper.

How We Confirm Fitment on McLaren 650S Wheels

Element Wheels measures fitment on the platforms we sell wheels for, including the McLaren 650S. For the 650S that means clearance from the wheel to the fender, gap between the back of the wheel and the suspension, brake caliper height measured separately on the front and rear because the front carbon ceramic package is larger, hub protrusion past the mounting surface, and the lug bolt seat depth that is specific to European exotics. The 650S Coupe, the 650S Spider, and the 650S Can-Am all share the same MonoCell carbon tub, so a fitment that works on one variant works across the rest of the 650S family. The 650S also predates the 720S MonoCage II tub, so we confirm the fitment box on the 650S itself rather than carrying numbers across from the newer Super Series cars. At our fitment facility in Chandler, Arizona, the Element Wheels team measures directly on the car. We don't pull specs from manufacturer sheets the way most retailers do.

McLaren 650S Wheels and Rims FAQ

What is the bolt pattern on a McLaren 650S?

Every 2014-2016 McLaren 650S, 650S Spider, and 650S Can-Am uses a 5x112 bolt pattern with a 57.1mm hub bore. Mounting is by lug bolt rather than lug nut and stud, with an M14x1.5 thread. Lug bolt length depends on the aftermarket wheel's mounting face thickness, so we ship the correct bolts with every McLaren 650S wheel order.

What is the hub bore on a McLaren 650S?

The hub bore on every McLaren 650S Coupe, 650S Spider, and 650S Can-Am is 57.1mm. If your fitment needs rings, they'll be included with the order.

Are McLaren 650S wheels staggered?

Yes. The 650S is mid-engine and rear-drive, with a wider rear wheel and tire than the front from the factory. Stock is 19x8.5 front and 20x11 rear. Element's aftermarket window runs 19-20 inch diameter with a 9 inch front width and 11-12 inch rear widths. The rear arches are physically wider than the fronts and the chassis is engineered around the staggered geometry, so we do not recommend square fitments.

Does a McLaren 650S use lug bolts or lug nuts?

Lug bolts. The 650S uses M14x1.5 lug bolts that thread directly into the hub rather than lug nuts on pre-installed studs. The correct bolt length depends on the aftermarket wheel's mounting face thickness, so the wrong length is the most common 650S installation mistake. We ship the right bolts with every McLaren 650S wheel order.

Will 650S wheels fit a 12C or a 720S?

On paper the bolt math matches across the McLaren lineup. The 12C, the 650S, and the 720S all use 5x112 with a 57.1mm hub bore on M14x1.5 lug bolts. But the three cars use different chassis generations (MonoCell on the 12C and 650S, MonoCage II on the 720S), different brake calipers, and different front fender geometry. A wheel that fit a 12C front axle does not automatically clear a 650S front caliper, and a 650S wheel does not automatically clear a 720S front caliper. Element measures each platform separately and does not cross-recommend between them.

How is the 650S different from the 720S for wheel fitment?

Same 5x112 / 57.1mm / M14x1.5 bolt math. The 650S rides on the original MonoCell carbon tub and was produced 2014-2016. The 720S that replaced it rides on the redesigned MonoCage II tub and brought a new front and rear fender geometry, a different suspension layout, and a different carbon ceramic brake package. The factory wheel spec is similar (19 front / 20 rear staggered on both), but the inner barrel clearance, fender opening, and turning clearance differ enough that we measure the two cars independently. Use the 650S row when shopping for a 650S, the 720S row for a 720S.

What is the largest wheel I can fit on a McLaren 650S?

Our measured aftermarket window on the 650S tops at 20 inch rear diameter, with rear widths up to 12 inch. The 650S is a tighter aftermarket window than the 720S because the MonoCell front fender geometry sits closer to the wheel face than the 720S MonoCage II. The most common 650S builds we ship are factory-matching 19 front and 20 rear staggered with a forged lightweight wheel.

How do I find the right wheels for my McLaren 650S?

Three steps on the 650S. Confirm your variant (650S Coupe, 650S Spider, or 650S Can-Am). Use our Year/Make/Model search to see wheels that fit your year and trim. Browse the wheel gallery for real-life 650S builds with size, offset, and tire captions. The correct M14x1.5 lug bolts and any hub centric rings you need ship with every order. For an aftermarket build above factory size, contact our team for a free fitment consultation. Every wheel we recommend is backed by the Fitment Guarantee.
