Scion FR-S Aftermarket Wheel Fitment

The Scion FR-S is the rear-drive naturally-aspirated sport coupe Scion sold in the US market from 2013 through 2016, when Toyota retired the Scion brand. The car continued under the Toyota name as the Toyota 86 (2017-2020) and then the Toyota GR86 (2022 and up). All three nameplates ride on the same ZN6/ZC6 chassis that Toyota and Subaru co-developed, with Subaru building the cars in Japan. The Subaru BRZ is the same chassis with a different badge. That is why the FR-S wheel hardware reads more like a Subaru than a typical Toyota: 5x100 bolt pattern, 56.1mm hub bore, and M12x1.25 thread pitch on permanent wheel studs. Most Toyota cars run 5x114.3 with M12x1.5 thread, so a wheel set built for a Camry or a Corolla will not bolt to an FR-S. Across the FR-S lineup, our catalog supports a 17 to 19 inch diameter window and both square and staggered setups, with the staggered window biased toward a wider rear wheel. Find your FR-S below and the wheel and rim recommendations follow.

Find Your Scion FR-S

Pick your FR-S to see wheels and rims that fit. The FR-S ran a single trim across its 2013-2016 US production span on the ZN6 chassis. Bolt pattern (5x100), hub bore (56.1mm), thread pitch (M12x1.25), and the diameter and width windows are constant. Brake hardware is matched front and rear on every FR-S.

The Scion FR-S Bolt Pattern

Every Scion FR-S (2013-2016) uses a 5x100 bolt pattern with a 56.1mm hub bore. Lug count is five, thread pitch is M12x1.25 on permanent wheel studs. The same spec carries over to the successor Toyota 86 (2017-2020) and Toyota GR86 (2022 and up), and to the Subaru BRZ across both generations (ZC6 and ZD8). Toyota's standard car bolt pattern is 5x114.3 (Camry, Corolla, Highlander, RAV4, and most of the rest of the lineup), but the FR-S is built on Subaru hardware and carries Subaru spec instead. That distinction matters: wheels listed for a Camry or a Corolla at 5x114.3 / 60.1mm will NOT fit an FR-S.

Critical spec callout: the FR-S lug-nut thread pitch is M12x1.25, NOT M12x1.5. Most Toyota cars use M12x1.5. The FR-S carries the Subaru smaller pitch because the platform is Subaru-engineered. M12x1.5 lug nuts will physically thread onto an FR-S stud but the engagement will be loose and is not safe at torque. Confirm your lug nuts are M12x1.25 before mounting aftermarket wheels. Also worth noting clearly: 5x100 is NOT the same as 5x114.3. Both are 5-lug, but the bolt circle diameter is different (100mm vs 114.3mm). A 5x100 wheel will not fit a 5x114.3 hub and vice versa. Compare across the rest of the Scion lineup at our Scion wheels and rims hub.

Same Chassis as the Subaru BRZ and the Toyota 86

The Scion FR-S, the Subaru BRZ, and the Toyota 86 (and its successor the Toyota GR86) are all the same chassis. Toyota and Subaru co-developed the platform. Subaru manufactures the cars in Japan and ships them with the appropriate front badge depending on which brand is selling the car in which market. The Scion FR-S launched the platform in 2013. The car was rebadged as the Toyota 86 in 2017 when Scion was retired in the US market. It became the GR86 in 2022 alongside the 2nd generation Subaru BRZ. Across the 1st generation ZN6/ZC6 cars (FR-S 2013-2016, Toyota 86 2017-2020, Subaru BRZ 2013-2020), the wheel and brake hardware is essentially identical. If a wheel fits a 2014 Subaru BRZ, it also fits a 2014 Scion FR-S. Element catalogs the three nameplates as separate vehicle pages because customers search by car name, but the fitment math crosses cleanly.

Practical implication when cross-shopping: a wheel cataloged for the 1st generation Subaru BRZ (ZC6, 2013-2020) or the Toyota 86 (2017-2020) at the same diameter and width spec will fit the FR-S the same way. The 2nd generation BRZ (ZD8) and the Toyota GR86 (2022 and up) added a 20 inch diameter option that was not part of the 1st generation FR-S fitment window. Stick to the 17 to 19 inch range for the FR-S.

Element Wheels Measured Aftermarket Fitment, Scion FR-S

Publishable factory and wheel specs across the Scion FR-S lineup:

  • FR-S (2013-2016): 5x100 bolt pattern, 56.1mm hub bore, M12x1.25 thread pitch on permanent wheel studs. Element aftermarket diameter range: 17-19 inch. Square width range: 7.5-8.5 inch front and rear. Optional staggered width range: 7.5-8.5 inch front / 8.5-10 inch rear. Front and rear brake matched in size.

For your exact aftermarket offset, three options:

  • 1. Use our Year/Make/Model search to see wheels that fit your specific FR-S (each listing shows its own offset).
  • 2. Browse the FR-S wheel gallery for real-life builds with size, offset, and tire spec captions.
  • 3. Call or chat with our team for a free fitment consultation.

Every wheel we recommend is backed by our Fitment Guarantee. If a wheel does not fit, we pick up the wheels and refund 100 percent. No risk to you.

How We Confirm Fitment on Scion FR-S Wheels

Element Wheels measures fitment on the platforms we sell wheels for, including the FR-S across its 2013-2016 production run. For the FR-S that means clearance from the wheel to the fender, gap between the back of the wheel and the suspension, brake caliper height, hub bore confirmation (the FR-S runs 56.1mm, NOT the 60.1mm common to mainstream Toyota cars), lug-stud thread pitch confirmation (M12x1.25, NOT M12x1.5), and turning clearance with the wheel and tire installed. At our fitment facility in Chandler, Arizona, the Element Wheels team measures directly on the physical platforms we support. We don't pull specs from manufacturer sheets the way most retailers do. That measurement work is what produced the 17 to 19 inch diameter window and the square-or-staggered fitment guidance on this page.

Scion FR-S Wheels and Rims FAQ

What is the bolt pattern on a Scion FR-S?

Every Scion FR-S (2013-2016) uses 5x100 with a 56.1mm hub bore and M12x1.25 thread pitch. The FR-S carries Subaru hardware spec because the ZN6/ZC6 chassis was Toyota+Subaru co-developed and Subaru-built. That is a different bolt pattern, hub bore, and thread pitch than mainstream Toyota cars, which run 5x114.3 / 60.1mm / M12x1.5.

Will Subaru BRZ wheels fit a Scion FR-S?

Yes. The Scion FR-S and the 1st generation Subaru BRZ (ZC6, 2013-2020) are the same chassis. Toyota and Subaru co-developed the platform and Subaru builds the cars in Japan. Bolt pattern (5x100), hub bore (56.1mm), thread pitch (M12x1.25), brake hardware, and suspension geometry are essentially identical. A wheel that fits a 2014 BRZ also fits a 2014 FR-S at the same diameter, width, and offset spec. The Toyota 86 (2017-2020) carries the same fitment family.

Will Toyota 86 or Toyota GR86 wheels fit a Scion FR-S?

Toyota 86 wheels (2017-2020) fit the FR-S directly. The Toyota 86 is the same ZN6 chassis with a different badge. The Toyota GR86 (2022 and up) is the 2nd generation of the platform with the same bolt pattern, hub bore, and thread pitch, but the GR86 added a 20 inch fitment option that the 1st generation FR-S does not support. Stick to the 17 to 19 inch range on the FR-S.

Will wheels from other Scion or Toyota models fit a Scion FR-S?

Looks similar across the lineup, but it doesn't cross. Mainstream Toyota cars (Camry, Corolla, Avalon, Highlander, RAV4) run 5x114.3 / 60.1mm with M12x1.5 thread pitch. The FR-S runs 5x100 / 56.1mm with M12x1.25. Different bolt circle, different hub centering, different thread pitch. Wheels from the rest of the Toyota lineup do not bolt to an FR-S. The 1st generation Scion tC (2005-2010) and Scion xD share the 5x100 pattern but have a smaller 54.1mm hub bore and a different M12x1.5 thread pitch, so they are not a drop-in match either.

Can I run staggered wheels on a Scion FR-S?

Yes. The FR-S is rear-wheel-drive, which means a staggered setup works mechanically. Our measured fitment window supports both square (7.5-8.5 inch front and rear) and staggered (7.5-8.5 inch front / 8.5-10 inch rear) configurations. Staggered gives a wider rear contact patch for grip and a more aggressive stance, but loses tire rotation flexibility across four corners. Square keeps rotation possible and is the more common track-day choice. Both options are supported in our catalog.

What size wheels and tires came on the Scion FR-S from the factory?

The Scion FR-S shipped with 17x7.0 factory wheels and 215/45R17 tires, matched front and rear (square setup). Confirm your specific build in the owner manual or the Monroney sticker if it is still in the door jamb area.

What is the largest wheel I can fit on a Scion FR-S?

Our measured aftermarket window tops at 19 inch on the 1st generation FR-S/86 platform. The full range is 17 to 19 inch. The 2nd generation GR86 (2022 and up) added a 20 inch option, but it requires the larger inner-barrel and brake clearance geometry of the 2nd generation car. On the 2013-2016 FR-S, 19 inch is the ceiling.

Do I need hub centric rings on a Scion FR-S?

Hub centric rings only when the aftermarket wheel has a centerbore larger than 56.1mm. That holds across every FR-S. If your fitment needs rings, they'll be included with the order.
