The Polestar Engineered and R-Design trims on the T6 and T8 variants carry the enthusiast aftermarket volume. The XC90 is the high volume full size SUV. The XC40 and EX30 cover the smaller crossover side. Volvo fitment is one of the cleanest landscapes among European luxury brands. Nearly every modern Volvo runs 5x108, the same pattern shared with Jaguar and parts of the Land Rover lineup. The older S40 and V40 (first generation, 2000-2004) used 4x114.3 on the Mitsubishi Carisma platform. Every modern Volvo ships square from the factory because of the safety oriented platform engineering. The Polestar Engineered T6 and T8 trims add larger brakes than the base trims. The Volvo Bolt Pattern Landscape

Volvo runs 5x108 across nearly the entire modern lineup, with a single 4x114.3 outlier on the first generation S40/V40 that used a Mitsubishi platform.

The 5x108 pattern unifies nearly the entire modern Volvo lineup, which simplifies cross shopping between the S60, XC60, and XC90. The first generation S40/V40 on 4x114.3 is the only major exception.

Volvo 5x108 Across the Lineup and the Polestar Brake Package

The Polestar Engineered and R-Design trims on the T6 and T8 variants are the Volvo brake clearance challenge. The Polestar Engineered T8 in particular runs larger front brakes paired with stiffer suspension, which narrows the wheel clearance window. The R-Design trims sit between the base trims and the Polestar Engineered in brake size. A wheel that fits a base S60 may not clear the Polestar Engineered S60 brake caliper.

The XC60 and XC90 share the SPA (Scalable Product Architecture) platform underneath. Both SUVs use 5x108 with similar offset windows. The XC90 sits taller and runs wider track than the XC60. Wheels often cross between the two with confirmed offset. The XC40 and EX30 sit on the smaller CMA (Compact Modular Architecture) platform with the same 5x108 pattern but tighter offset windows.

The 5x108 pattern is shared with Jaguar and parts of the Land Rover lineup. A Jaguar XF wheel will often fit a Volvo S60 with confirmed offset and centerbore. The Volvo centerbore is 63.4mm on most modern models. Aftermarket wheels typically need a hub centric ring to clear the Volvo hub.

How We Confirm Fitment

Element Wheels measures fitment on Volvo models we sell wheels for. For each chassis and brake combination we measure clearance from the wheel to the fender, gap between the back of the wheel and any suspension components, brake caliper height, hub protrusion, lug height, and how much room the front wheel has when turning lock to lock. We do this on the car, not from a spec sheet.

That measurement work covers the most active Volvo platforms across the catalog. The Polestar Engineered T6 and T8 trims are tracked separately from the base trims because of the larger brake setup. The R-Design trims are tracked separately for the same reason. The first generation S40/V40 (2000-2004) is tracked separately on the Mitsubishi 4x114.3 platform. The XC40 and EX30 are tracked on the CMA platform with their own offset windows.
