Mazda Aftermarket Wheel Fitment

Mazda is one of the higher volume Japanese mainstream platforms in our customer base, anchored by the Mazda3, Mazda6, CX-5, CX-30, CX-9, and the Miata/MX-5 roadster. The CX-50, CX-70, and CX-90 round out the modern crossover and SUV lineup. The RX-7 and RX-8 rotary platforms still pull collector aftermarket interest. Mazda fitment is one of the cleanest landscapes on the site. The modern Mazda lineup runs almost entirely on 5x114.3, the same pattern shared with the Toyota mainstream cars and a wide selection of Japanese platforms. The exception is the Miata. Every generation of the Miata and MX-5 uses 4x100, the lightweight Japanese sports car pattern. Older small Mazdas (Mazda2, MX-3, original Protege) also use 4x100. Element Wheels has measured fitment across the majority of Mazda platforms in our 26-model catalog so the wheels we show you have been validated for your exact chassis. Pick your Mazda model below and you can rest assured the wheels and rims will fit the way you want every time.

Complete Mazda Lineup

The Mazda Bolt Pattern Landscape

Mazda runs two main bolt patterns. The mainstream cars and crossovers use 5x114.3. The Miata and a handful of small older Mazdas use 4x100.

Mazda bolt patterns at a glance

Mainstream Mazda lineup (Mazda3, Mazda6, Mazda5, CX-3, CX-30, CX-5, CX-50, CX-7, CX-70, CX-9, CX-90, RX-7, RX-8, modern MX-5 ND, B-Series, Tribute, Millenia, 626, MPV, MX-30, MX-6, Mazdaspeed): 5x114.3 (also called 5x4.5). The Mazda mainstream pattern shared with most modern Japanese cars.

Mazda Miata and MX-5 (1990-2005 NA and NB generations) and older small Mazdas (Mazda2, MX-3, original Protege): 4x100. The lightweight Japanese sports car and compact pattern.

Some Mazda MX-5 generations and older Protege: Mixed 4x100 and 5x114.3 depending on the year. Confirm year before assuming the pattern.

The Miata is the biggest source of cross shopping surprise. The NA and NB Miata (1990-2005) use 4x100. The NC Miata (2006-2015) moved to 5x114.3. The ND Miata (2016-2026) moved back to 4x100. Always confirm the Miata generation before assuming wheels carry over.

Mazda Miata Generation Splits, the Mazdaspeed Brake Package, and the Rotary Platform

The Miata is the most active Mazda aftermarket platform and the place where bolt pattern confusion shows up most. The NA Miata (1990-1997) and NB Miata (1998-2005) used 4x100. The NC Miata (2006-2015) moved to 5x114.3, making it the only generation with a 5 lug pattern. The ND Miata (2016 and newer) moved back to 4x100. A wheel that fits an NA or NB will not fit an NC, and an NC wheel will not fit an ND. Always confirm the generation before assuming wheels carry over.

The Mazdaspeed3 and Mazdaspeed6 are the Mazda brake clearance challenge. Both trims run larger front brakes than the base Mazda3 or Mazda6. A wheel that fits a base Mazda3 may not clear the Mazdaspeed3 brake caliper. The Mazdaspeed Protege is tracked separately from the base Protege for the same reason.

The RX-7 and RX-8 rotary platforms still pull collector aftermarket interest. The FD RX-7 (1993-1995 in the US) runs 5x114.3 with a tight offset window because of the wide fenders. The RX-8 (2004-2011) runs 5x114.3 with a similar offset window. Each is tracked separately because the suspension geometry differs.

How Element handles Mazda fitment

The Miata generation splits (NA/NB on 4x100, NC on 5x114.3, ND on 4x100) are tracked separately because the bolt pattern changes between generations. The Mazdaspeed3, Mazdaspeed6, and Mazdaspeed Protege are tracked separately from their base trims because of the larger brake setup. The RX-7 and RX-8 are tracked separately because of the rotary platform suspension geometry. Every recommendation is validated against the actual chassis on your car.

How We Confirm Fitment

Element Wheels measures fitment on Mazda models we sell wheels for. For each chassis and brake combination we measure clearance from the wheel to the fender, gap between the back of the wheel and any suspension components, brake caliper height, hub protrusion, lug height, and how much room the front wheel has when turning lock to lock. We do this on the car, not from a spec sheet.

That measurement work covers the most active Mazda platforms across the catalog. The Miata is tracked separately by generation because the bolt pattern changes between NA, NB, NC, and ND. The Mazdaspeed3, Mazdaspeed6, and Mazdaspeed Protege are tracked separately from their base trims because of the larger brake setup. The RX-7 and RX-8 are tracked separately because of the rotary platform suspension geometry and the tight offset windows.

Every wheel we recommend is backed by our Fitment Guarantee. If a wheel does not fit, we pick up the wheels and refund 100 percent. No risk to you.

Mazda Wheel and Rim FAQ

What is the most popular Mazda aftermarket platform?

The Mazda3 leads Mazda aftermarket volume, followed by the Mazda6, CX-5, CX-30, and CX-9. The Miata and MX-5 carry significant enthusiast aftermarket volume across every generation.

What is the Mazda bolt pattern?

Most Mazdas use 5x114.3, including the Mazda3, Mazda6, CX-3, CX-5, CX-9, CX-30, CX-50, CX-70, CX-90, RX-7, RX-8, B-Series, and Tribute. The Miata uses 4x100 (NA, NB, ND generations) or 5x114.3 (NC generation only). Some older small Mazdas (Mazda2, MX-3, original Protege) use 4x100.

Will Mazda3 wheels fit a CX-5?

Yes. Both the Mazda3 and CX-5 use 5x114.3. Brake clearance and offset windows differ slightly because the CX-5 sits taller and runs a wider track. A Mazda3 wheel will bolt onto a CX-5 but the offset may sit differently. Confirm offset and brake specs when cross shopping.

Will NB Miata wheels fit an NC or ND Miata?

No. The NB Miata uses 4x100. The NC Miata uses 5x114.3 (different lug count). The ND Miata uses 4x100 (same lug count as NB but the offset window is different). NB wheels will not bolt onto an NC. Some NB wheels will fit an ND but the offset typically does not match the modern wider track. Always confirm generation and offset.

Are the Mazda3 and Mazdaspeed3 wheels interchangeable?

They share the same 5x114.3 bolt pattern, but the Mazdaspeed3 runs wider wheels, lower offsets, larger front brakes, and wider tires than the base Mazda3. A base Mazda3 wheel on a Mazdaspeed3 will look too narrow and may not clear the brake. A Mazdaspeed3 wheel on a base Mazda3 will stick past the fender or rub the suspension. The two share a chassis but the wheel fitment is a different family. We track them separately.

Are Mazda wheels staggered?

Most Mazdas ship square from the factory. The Miata and MX-5 ship square because of the lightweight roadster layout. The Mazdaspeed3 and Mazdaspeed6 ship square. Aftermarket staggered builds are rare on Mazda because most of the lineup is front wheel drive or balanced layout.

How do I find wheels for my specific Mazda?

Pick your Mazda model from the list above. Each model page covers the generations we have measured, with bolt pattern, offset window, and fitment specifics for each year range and trim. If you are not sure which generation or trim you have, our team can identify your exact configuration from your VIN.

Get Mazda Wheels and Rims Right the First Time

Pick your Mazda model above to see wheels and rims that fit. We measure fitment on Mazda models we sell wheels for, separate the Miata generation splits (4x100 on NA/NB/ND and 5x114.3 on NC), and call out the Mazdaspeed brake clearance windows. Find your fit and start enjoying your build sooner.
